Following the success of previous projects - such as Sophon, CARV, XAI Games, and Powerloom - Sonic SVM has also chosen to crowdfund its nodes through node sales.

Sonic SVM, a layer-2 project focused on GameFi, has set a date for its $12.8 million validator node sale on September 16.

This will be the first event of its kind in the Solana ecosystem, and will take place in three phases:

·       Tier-1 Raffle: 08:00 PM on September 16 (Vietnam time)

·       Whitelist Sale: 08:00 PM on September 18 (Vietnam time)

·       Public Sale: 08:00 PM on September 19 (Vietnam time)

Sonic SVM will issue 50,000 "Hyperfuse Nodes", distributed across 20 different price tiers.

All node sales proceeds will go into the project treasury for general purposes, according to Chris Zhu, co-founder and CEO of Sonic SVM.

Node buyers will not only receive token rewards but also contribute to the security of Sonic SVM's HyperGrid network.

Nodes can be set up on laptops or cloud servers. The node sale comes just months after Sonic SVM raised $12 million in a Series A round led by Bitkraft with participation from Galaxy Interactive and Big Brain Holdings.

Notably, the node sale is a "rare opportunity for retail investors to purchase Sonic tokens at a discount to the valuation offered to top venture capital funds" in the Series A round.

While not officially confirmed, there may be airdrops to node operators in the future. Sonic is a GameFi-focused layer-2 of Solana developed by Mirror World Labs (MWL), the entity that owns Sonic. MWL has built a proprietary technology called the HyperGrid Framework, which enables horizontal scaling via rollups on Solana, and Sonic is being built on top of that technology.

Sonic SVM's HyperGrid is likened to Solana's version of OP Stack (Optimism), a popular framework for building new layer-2 networks on Ethereum. Coinbase's layer-2 project Base also uses this infrastructure.

Node sales have become a popular crowdfunding method in recent times. Previously, in May, Aethir successfully raised $126 million in ETH by distributing over 73,000 nodes. Other projects such as Sophon, CARV, XAI Games, and Powerloom have also adopted this method to attract investment.
