Platzi is a website that has been in operation since 2011 and was born as a project of several entrepreneurs passionate about education. Its vision is to have an alternative to traditional education that is accessible, dynamic and effective. So, at first, they began to offer some online courses on topics such as programming, design, marketing, business, and more. Today, Platzi has more than 500 courses on the most relevant areas of the digital industry, taught by expert professors in their field.

Additionally, it has a community of more than 2 million students who support each other, share their projects, and create professional connections. Platzi also offers certificates with the Platzi and your company logo for each student, as well as a test to discover the ideal profession for you. According to their own data, 70% of their students have found a better job, a salary increase or have created their own company after taking their courses. Furthermore, many of them have managed to generate impact with their projects.

Reviewing some opinions of users who use the platform, I found that they generally consider it an educational revolution that changes your life. That in it you can acquire the necessary knowledge to turn your ideas into new projects, connect with a community of students and professionals to enhance your learning and generate impact with great projects that change the world. It is also considered a valid and legitimate option for those who want to learn and grow professionally.

However, not everything is rosy. Platzi also has his detractors, who question the value and quality of his courses. Some argue that Platzi is just a way to profit from education, that its courses are superficial and that they do not guarantee comprehensive training. Others believe that it is a fad, that its certificates have no official validity and that they do not prepare students for real-world challenges. These criticisms raise an interesting debate about the role and meaning of education in our society. Is education a right or a privilege? Is education an end or a means? Is education an individual or collective responsibility? Is education a source of liberation or alienation? But we better leave that topic for another article.

Personally, I usually immediately reject when someone tries to sell me "wisdom". From my point of view, knowledge should be free and accessible to everyone. I believe that education is a fundamental tool for personal and social development, which allows us to expand our horizons, explore our potential and contribute to the common good. Educating yourself is a continuous and dynamic process, which must be adapted to the needs and interests of each person as an opportunity to create, share and transform. But as I often mention, in the end, each person has the decision to pay for courses or not, according to their criteria and convenience.
