Hello Hello Bulbers

Is that what we are ... Bulbers? or bulbians I even saw Bulbarians!

Either way hello Bulb fam!

Sunday is here and a day of contemplation for some. Or a day with family or heaven forbid a day to touch grass!

Well I have touched grass this morning and here you will see some in this post...

If you know me from other platforms then aside from crypto and football you will know I love to tell a good story.

I believe in faction, that is fiction with plenty of facts in there too.

I also love to take photographs, so usually my posts are full of my pictures, not just some pixabay images or other free to use commercially platform.

Today then we are going to have a wee story with poignant or is that fun pictures ....

Have you seen a tree full of shoes?

Read on ... This story of mine I originally posted on peakdcom [here]

It was actually an April Fool's Day Prank....

Do you participate in playing pranks on people on April 1st?

The pictures that you see in this post were all taken by me on 21st April 2023 in our local park ..Beveridge Park in Kirkcaldy, Scotland.

As you can see the weather was absolutely glorious! We could with more of that weather now, as so far this year has been pretty miserable.

If you live in a hot country, be glad you don't suffer our depressing winter!

Before I take you further you can notice that we were in Spring what with the bare trees. Now a month later they are fully clothed so not so naked!

Have you seen anything peculiar about these trees. This is spring so the trees are devoid of leaves in case you were wondering.

There is one particular April Fool's that I don't know if I remember from the original airing or the several replays over the years.

Spaghetti grows from trees

Who knew!

So there was an afternoon/evening show called Nationwide I think it was.

One year they ran a prank for April.

They had pictures of trees with yes you guessed it, spaghetti hanging off the branches!

Of course when I actually saw these fluffing shoes hanging from the branches it made me think of this prank from so many years ago!

What the fluff are shoes doing hanging from the trees?

The answer to why the shoes are in the tree is that I really don't know.

The trees are close to that skate park. So what I think is that kids being kids and bullies, some poor guy had his shoes taken off him and to be funny the bullies threw them up the tree. Then they did it again and again as they all look in good condition!

It is not just pairs of shoes but also bicycle tyres!

Bumper spaghetti crop thanks to mild winter and removal of spaghetti weevil

Basically I got myself intrigued and went searching and found that the prank was Before my time! The TV programme was Panorama not Nationwide, which makes it all the more remarkable as Panorama was a deadly serious BBC documentary that ran for years.

The Prank ...

Panorama reported from Switzerland, where the combination of a mild winter and the virtual disappearance of pests like the spaghetti weevil, has resulted in a bumper spaghetti crop.

Fake news

This clip is believed to be one of the first televised April Fools pranks - the original fake news.

Back in the day (1957) some viewers in the words of Queen Victoria We Are Not Amused... Yep they didn't see what was funny because Panorama was supposed to be a serious fact based program! They criticised the BBC ... fluffing killjoys!

Was the prank a success?

Well some viewers wrote into the BBC to ask where they could purchase their own spaghetti bushes!

That sounds like a result to me...

What do you think? Have you heard about this fake news...

All images and ramblings are from me, the mad Scotsman TengoLoTodo taken with my Canon Powershot HS70 bridge camera.
