Trying to spend Bitcoin

Good morning/evening

Well I have been away again for a few days, not so much to relax but to get another car. We spent a few days in Plovdiv, a city that used to be the capital of Bulgaria. The process you go through here may be different to some other countries, but once the car was paid for we could either go to the transport police in that city and register the car their including an MOT or apply for transit plates that give you a month before you go to the transport police in the city nearest to you to register the car. We chose the transit plates route as we know where we are in our local one. (That was a good idea as the queue for registration looked at least a 6 hour wait as opposed to the 2 hour wait we had!)

How am I funding this purchase?

https://aave.com/brand
I did talk before about using Aave to borrow some stablecoins and use that to buy BTC https://www.publish0x.would-you-bet-the-house-on-bitcoin-xoqwzwr so when there was a bit of a BTC pump we put aside some profits to get the car, but we also had a sort of second plan which was to actually use BTC if we found someone that would take it. Now the reason we went where we did was the huge volume of car sales in a small area, so we had more choice. There were at least 40 car dealerships and that was on just 1 side of the road, the other side had a further 20. Although we had something in mind, it had to be big enough for 6 people!

Now you would think with that much choice one of these places must take Bitcoin. I am sad to say not a single one. People looked at me with blank stares when I asked or worse, some just laughed at me (I am not bothered by this reaction as I think 'oh well, your loss') As we were in a city I did expect the odd one or 2 that would take BTC and that would have been one of the deciding factors on the car or dealership of choice.

My BItcoin car

Now I am over the moon that I have managed to take profits, have not technically sold a satoshi to do it, my initial is still there and still doing it's thing and yet every time I look at the car outside my house now all I can think of is it is my Bitcoin car. It may not be a Lambo ......... can you imagine 6 people in a Lambo lol, but it is mine.

I am all for a Satoshi standard but for that to work, more people need to accept BTC not just for supercars! ( I think this will happen, but just not yet)
The Satoshi Standard is a concept that advocates measuring value, particularly in Bitcoin, using satoshis instead of traditional fiat currencies like the U.S. dollar. A satoshi is the smallest unit of Bitcoin, with 100 million satoshis equaling one Bitcoin. By adopting the Satoshi Standard, people can move away from thinking in terms of fluctuating fiat exchange rates and instead focus on the more granular, decentralized, and fixed-supply nature of Bitcoin. This standard emphasizes Bitcoin as a superior store of value and encourages a mindset shift towards using and understanding Bitcoin at its most fundamental level, which could make it more accessible and practical for everyday transactions.
For people to be able to work to this, we need more merchants to take BTC and in my opinion until that happens we will effectively work in the fiat equivalent as that is what we are using to buy things with.

What are your thoughts? Have you made any big purchases with Bitcoin?

As always, thank you for reading and please feel free to comment.
