Crypto Unicorns – Historic Migration to Xai Gaming Network
The Xai gaming network, a layer-3 solution built on the Arbitrum blockchain, is set to welcome Crypto Unicorns, a prominent NFT gaming project, as it bids farewell to Ethereum sidechain Polygon. This momentous move follows the recent and highly successful XAI token airdrop from the Xai Foundation, further solidifying the network’s position as a leading destination for blockchain gaming enthusiasts.
Established in 2021, Crypto Unicorns has captivated players with its expanding ecosystem that encompasses land-based building, battling experiences, jousting, and party games, generating a remarkable $35 million in NFT trading volume to date. However, the lingering challenges of network gas spikes and rising operational costs on Polygon prompted Laguna Games, the developer behind Crypto Unicorns, to seek a more sustainable platform.
“Subsidizing player fees had become unsustainable,” explained Aron Beierschmitt, CEO of Laguna Games, in a recent interview with Decrypt. “The migration to Xai provides a more sustainable environment for our players and our team.”
Urging an “ASAP” migration timeline, Beierschmitt emphasized the importance of this transition. Ex Populus, the game studio aligned with the Xai Foundation and Arbitrum developer Offchain Labs, is working closely with Laguna Games to ensure a smooth and efficient process.
Beierschmitt’s assertion that this migration will be the “largest in the history” of blockchain games underscores the complexity of the undertaking. Over 25 smart contracts, powering both Crypto Unicorns NFTs and gameplay logic, are involved in this intricate operation.
Tobias Batton, CEO of Ex Populus, expressed immense excitement, describing Laguna Games’ decision to move to Xai as a “huge validation” for the network. He anticipates a “massive influx” of projects migrating to Xai, promising further announcements in the pipeline.
The migration coincides with a recent surge in XAI’s token value. Last week, the Xai Foundation launched the XAI token, reaching a new high of $1.21. The foundation’s generosity extended to an airdrop of a total value exceeding $151 million, rewarding users supporting the network, specific NFT holders, and participants in the Binance launchpool campaign. This successful token launch further bolsters Xai’s momentum and paves the way for future growth.
With the Crypto Unicorns migration and the XAI token airdrop, Xai has firmly established itself as an attractive destination for blockchain gaming projects seeking low-cost, scalable, and reliable infrastructure. As the Xai ecosystem continues to expand, it’s poised to become a major player in the decentralized gaming landscape, redefining the way players experience and engage with blockchain-based games.
