Her parents are Tina and Nigel Middleton, and she grew up with her older sister Angel and younger brother Josh. The unique moniker "Tuppence" pays homage to her mother's childhood nickname.
Raised in Clevedon, Somerset, Middleton found her confidence and passion for acting in youth theatre, providing an outlet for her expressive nature. While she described herself as shy at school, her lively and outspoken personality flourished at home and in theatrical pursuits.
Middleton attended Bristol Grammar School, actively participating in school productions such as "Guys and Dolls." She further honed her skills at Stagecoach, a performing arts school in Portishead, and engaged in local drama productions. Her journey in acting led her to the Arts Educational School in London, where she earned an honors degree in acting.

Tuppence Middleton's career took off with her role in the 2009 British comedy horror film "Tormented," where she portrayed head girl Justine Fielding. Her compelling performance in the film earned her recognition, setting the stage for her future endeavors. Middleton's talent was acknowledged with a nomination for Most Promising Newcomer at the London Evening Standard Film Awards in 2010.

Notable performances include Jem in the "Black Mirror" episode "White Bear" (2013), Miss Havisham in "Dickensian" (2015–2016), and Russian princess Hélène Kuragina in "War & Peace" (2016). She also played Riley "Blue" Gunnarsdóttir in "Sense8" (2015–2018).

Tuppence Middleton has been open about her battle with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), which manifested when she was 12. In a series of interviews on BBC Radio 4 in 2021, she discussed her struggles with self-imposed routines, obsessive counting, compulsive checking, and emetophobia (fear of vomiting).
In August 2022, Middleton celebrated a joyful milestone, becoming a mother for the first time. She welcomed her child with Swedish film director Måns Mårlind, marking a new chapter in her personal journey.


Continued Success and Current Projects:


Middleton's career continues to flourish with diverse roles, including the lead in the mystery drama "Disappearance at Clifton Hill" (2019), "Possessor" (2020), "The Defeated" (2020), and the upcoming folk horror film "Lord of Misrule." She narrated BBC World Service documentaries and an immersive audiovisual tour for Hyde Park in London.
Currently, Middleton graces the stage of the National Theatre as Elizabeth Taylor in the Sam Mendes-directed play "The Motive and the Cue," alongside Johnny Flynn and Mark Gatiss.
