Amusan finishes second in Lausanne Diamond League
Tobi Amusan, the champion from Nigeria, made history in the World Athletics Championship this year in Oregon, United States. On Friday night, he won a silver medal at the ongoing Diamond League Meet.
Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico won the gold medal, and Amusan, who was still hurting from the record-breaking Commonwealth Games gold she won in Birmingham earlier in August, was hoping to maintain her outstanding performance.
In a new Meeting Record of 12.34 seconds, Camacho-Quinn defeated Tobi Amusan to win the women's 100-meter hurdles in the Diamond League (-0.9).
Amusan came in second place in 12.45 seconds and qualified for Zurich, while Tia Jones of the US raced a new personal best to take third place in 12.47 seconds.
The Diamond League is an annual collection of the top 14 invitational athletics meetings for track and field competitions.
The World Athletics one-day meeting series is at the top of the standings.
