Counterspell ruleset in Splinterlands - My favorite lineup gets smashed

So finally there are news about the Soulkeep Tower Defense game... it got sold. :/
That is not the future we got promised. Although I got mixed feelings on this issue I tend to emphasize on the negative aspects.
The buying company has no successful reference game I have heard of, so far. We were already in Beta why then drop the game? Finally I doubt that a third party will really integrate the game into the Splinterlands setup.
So it is then our love Splinterlands left only... Ruleset of the week "Counterspell". Its description reads:
"All units receive the magic reflect ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with magic receive damage back."
And more elaborate the fineprint:
"Damage returned is equal to the damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up.
Magic units with the reflection shield ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks.
The amplify ability increases damage."
So magic attacks have a big flaw with this ruleset. Perhaps better not to choose units with magic attack.
And guess who did not pay attention to the ruleset and just stuck to his beloved magic attack lineup in this fight? -Right, it was me. See here:

But let us take this as a good opportunity to see "Counterspell" ruleset in action!
So on my side of the board you see a real lot of magic attack that will got beaten up.
My opponent was somewhat wiser and chose no unit with magic attack.
Thanks to some miss attacks I only lost one unit in Round 1. All the while Djinn Biljka with his "Void" ability proved somewhat resistant to his own attacks. ;) -Still my lineup was already deep in trouble in Round 1 while my opponent was only about to lose his tank.
Round 3 and I was still not really in the game, but participating. ;)
There was although already a tendency towards that my Djinn either had to wipe out my opponent's full lineup on his own or I would lose the game.
Alas I would lose the game.
Round 4 and we are about to witness my Regal Peryton leaving the board after activating and making his attack.
The rest is history, yes, I lost. However I want to emphasize a bit on the Counterspell ruleset. Each unit gets the additional "Magic Reflect" ability and thus half of each damage attack comes back to the unit it originated from. So my piece of advice just do not use magic attack units.
BUT if you have a unit with two or less magic attack that also has "Void" ability, there is no problem in using it while "Counterspell" ruleset is active. See my Djinn Biljka above as example.
And my best advice this week: Remember the active rulesets when selecting your lineup.
