Dencunwas deployed to the Sepolia testnet in the early morning of January 31 at 5:21, this is the second successful test network afterGoerli on January 17Last.
Overall, upgrade Dencunstill going rightproposed schedulebefore. Holesky's final online test will take place next week, February 7 . Then, if it is successful, Ethereum developers will set a schedule to bring Dencun to the mainnet, expected to be around February - March.
DencunIt was initially scheduled for late 2023, but had to be delayed because there were still many technical issues, as well as insufficient readiness from many customer groups.
One expected feature that Dencun will bring is proto-danksharding, which aims to reduce gas fees and improve scalability by introducing a compressed data storage mechanism called “blobs.”
Although not yet officially launched, there has been information that Ethereum developers are discussingEthereum's next upgrade after Dencun. This upgrade is called Prague/Electra , or Pectra for short - similar to how Cancun/Deneb is called Dencun for short.
