Arcade Reveals Airdrops for Collectors on Ethereum, Solana, and Bitcoin
Arcade, an Ethereum-based DeFi protocol for NFT lending, has announced it will launch its next native ARCD token airdrop next week.
On February 21, 750 ARCD tokens will be airdropped to 4,000 lucky holders of select NFT and Bitcoin Ordinals collections commonly used as collateral for loans on Arcade. Approximately 2,000 wallets containing Ethereum-based Pudgy Penguins, Lil Pudgys, and Sappy Seals NFTs will be randomly selected for the airdrop.
Another 2,000 wallets containing NFTs Mad Lads and Tensorians based on Solana or Ordinal collectibles engraved on Bitcoin such as Bitcoin Puppets, NodeMonkes and RSIC will also be randomly selected for this whitelist. A snapshot of the airdrop will be taken two days in advance, on February 19. According to the announcement, users in some countries, including the United States, will not be eligible to participate in the airdrop.
While the majority of Arcade's business takes place on Ethereum and ARCD is an Ethereum-based token, company co-founder Robert Masiello said that the upcoming airdrop shows Arcade's intention to expand its presence on Solana and Bitcoin. Masiello said:
“We are fans of those communities. In the future, we can envision Arcade having its own protocols on those networks and directly supporting collections with our lending mission.”
Winners from NFT collections whose wallets are added to the airdrop whitelist will only have two hours to claim ARCD on February 22, starting at 1 a.m. Vietnam time. After that, any unclaimed slots in the airdrop for 4,000 wallets will be opened to any of the NFT and Ordinals holders listed above, on a competitive first-come, first-served basis that Arcade is placing called “Clash of Claims”.
Initially, the entire upcoming $3 million ARCD airdrop was designed to work on that competition model. But after some protests from frustrated community members worried about losing due to slow reflexes, the Arcade team decided to tone down the “competition” element of their “Clash of Claims” giveaway.
Maisello said:
“I think some people are not familiar with the first-come, first-served principle. We want to receive community feedback."
First launched in October in Arcade's first airdrop, the ARCD token is currently locked to prevent transfer or sale on the secondary market and can only be used to vote on governance proposals in ArcadeDAO. ARCD will eventually have a total supply of 100 million. After next week's airdrop, the token's circulating supply will increase to approximately 6.5 million.
However, Masiello said ArcadeDAO has taken steps to unlock ARCD and enable its sale. Although he did not provide details, he pointed out that next week's airdrop is largely arranged to set the stage for unlocking ARCD. “We don't have an exact date. But we hope it will happen quite soon.”
