Telegram CEO Must Stay in France to Await Trial, TON Network “Out of Power” Again Due to DOGS
Telegram CEO Pavel Durov has been charged by France and must remain in the country’s territory to await trial.
According to the French court’s ruling, Telegram messaging app CEO Pavel Durov has been charged with previously announced crimes, including indirectly spreading obscene images, aiding and abetting criminal activities, trafficking in illegal substances, etc. through the lack of management and censorship of Telegram.
Mr. Durov, 39 years old, is a Russian but has both French and UAE citizenship, and was allowed to be released on bail but had to pay a bail of 5 million euros, was banned from leaving the country and had to report to the police twice a week.
As reported, Pavel Durov was suddenly arrested by French authorities on August 25 while traveling by private plane to an airport in Paris.
Many prominent figures in the global technology and cryptocurrency world have spoken out against the French action, claiming that this was a politically motivated arrest, despite President Emmanuel Macron's denial.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it was aware of the situation and was preparing a plan to protect the rights of its citizen, Mr. Durov.
In a related development, the TON blockchain network linked to Telegram continued to experience disruptions late on August 28, unable to generate new blocks for several hours, before being resolved at around 06:30 AM today (August 29).
Block production on TON experiencing further disruption
Block production issues began at 19:19 UTC. The disruption appears to be due to heavy load attributed to DOGS token minting. TON Core is working on a solution.
We will continue to update you on the situation as it evolves.…

Similar to the 7-hour blockchain outage on the morning of August 28, the cause of the incident was again due to the minting of memecoin DOGS.
The TON price has fluctuated in the past 12 hours following news of Pavel Durov being charged by France, as well as the TON blockchain experiencing a second outage, but the overall pattern is stable and showing signs of recovery since the 20% dump on August 25.
