I will tell you about eggplant kebab, one of the unique flavors of Turkish Cuisine.
Eggplant kebab is a delicious kebab variety belonging to Turkish cuisine. Typically prepared with grilled eggplants, meat, and spices, this dish is a light and flavorful option often preferred during the summer months. Here is the recipe for eggplant kebab:
Ingredients:
- 500 grams of diced lamb or beef
- 3 medium-sized eggplants
- 2 green peppers
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 large onion
- 3 cloves of garlic
- Half a cup of vegetable oil
- Salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes (optional)
- Wooden skewers for grilling
Instructions:
- Roast the eggplants: Roast the eggplants on an open flame, in the oven, or on a grill. Peel the eggplants and slice them lengthwise.
- Marinate the meat: Place the diced meat in a bowl. Add grated onion, crushed garlic, vegetable oil, salt, black pepper, and optionally red pepper flakes. Mix the ingredients and marinate the meat with this mixture. You can let it marinate for at least 1–2 hours.
- Prepare the vegetables: Prepare the green peppers, tomatoes, and sliced roasted eggplants.
- Skewer the ingredients: Thread the marinated meat onto skewers, alternating with the vegetables. Optionally, you can add pieces of green pepper in between.
- Grill on a barbecue or grill: Grill the skewers on a preheated barbecue or grill. Cook the meat until it is well-browned and cooked through, turning occasionally for even cooking.
- Serve: Serve the eggplant kebab hot. You can accompany it with rice or flatbread.
