Uniswap v4 Launch Set for Q3 After Ethereum’s Dencun Upgrade
The Uniswap Foundation, which backs the DeFi protocol Uniswap, revealed the scheduled release date for Uniswap v4 following the impending Dencun upgrade on Ethereum.
In a statement on the Twitter platform, the foundation outlined its roadmap, detailing the upcoming rollout. They emphasized that they are currently in the “Code Freeze” stage, focusing on finalizing core code, conducting tests, optimizing gas usage, enhancing security, and completing peripheral aspects.
The Uniswap Foundation plans to subject the code of Uniswap v4 to thorough audits by both audit firms and a community audit contest, aiming for it to be the most meticulously reviewed code ever deployed on Ethereum.
At the same time, the decentralized exchange (DEX) will be launched on the testnet while final adjustments are made. The third phase involves the deployment of Uniswap v4 to the Ethereum mainnet in the third quarter of 2024, with the understanding that this timing is subject to change depending on the progress of the upcoming Dencun upgrade on Ethereum.
The Dencun upgrade for the Ethereum network was activated on the Goerli testnet on January 17. This upgrade includes several Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs), such as EIP-4844, which enables proto-danksharding, a feature aimed at reducing transaction fees on layer 2.
