AltLayer has initiated the registration phase for Celestia stakers
AltLayer has initiated the registration phase for Celestia stakers to participate in the ALT token airdrop for Season One. This announcement comes after completing the necessary groundwork for the airdrop, following the earlier release detailing eligibility and claim instructions for OG Badge and Oh Ottie NFT holders, Altitude participants, and EigenLayer restakers.
ALT is AltLayer’s native utility token, essential for the ecosystem's functioning. It serves various purposes, including acting as an economic bond alongside restaked assets, enabling governance decisions through voting by ALT token holders, incentivizing protocol operators, and serving as the medium for network participants to pay for intra-network services.
The airdrop is a part of AltLayer's commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation within the modular ecosystem. The Celestia community has been allocated a significant portion of the airdrop, reflecting their crucial role in shaping and advancing the modular space.
A total of 94,759 addresses are eligible for the airdrop, spread across five tiers. The tiers are designed to ensure wide distribution among Celestia community holders. The snapshot for Celestia stakers' addresses was taken on January 17, 2024, at 12:00:17 AM UTC, while the snapshot for MilkyWay TIA (milkTIA) was taken on January 17, 2024, at 12:00:11 AM UTC.
The airdrop process consists of two phases: the registration phase and the claim phase. Eligible Celestia addresses must register their Ethereum address during the registration phase, open for two weeks from February 2, 2024, 0800 UTC. The claim phase will commence on February 20, 2024, and run until March 05, 2024. Unclaimed ALT tokens from either phase will be returned to AltLayer’s Treasury.
The registration and claim portal for Celestia stakers will be available at https://airdrop.altlayer.io/ under the Celestia tab.
The AltLayer team expresses gratitude to the Celestia team and the vibrant community for their contributions to the modular world. The ALT airdrop serves as a token of appreciation for the dedication of builders and enthusiasts, marking the initial stride toward stronger collaboration between AltLayer and the Celestia ecosystem.
