Sweatcoin is Coming to the US
Well, the truth is that the Sweatcoin app - an app that rewards points/crypto for your daily step counts - has been available in the United States for awhile now; however, for the longest time it seemed that the Sweat Ecosystem token, $SWEAT, would remain out of our reach. But last night I received an email from Sweatcoin informing me that starting on September 12th, US-based users of Sweatcoin will finally be able to convert their points to $SWEAT tokens, rather than use them for the random deals and discounts offered within the app.
If you're a new or existing US user of Sweatcoin, there's a few things you'll need to do by September 11th in order to make sure your points are sent to your wallet.
The first thing you'll need to do is install the Sweatcoin app if you haven't already (or are like me, and uninstalled it after giving up hope that $SWEAT was coming to the States), then open the app and create/log-in to your Sweatcoin account. You'll find a banner or button on your app that says "Convert Sweatpoints to Crypto." Click on the "Opt-in Now" option and follow the instructions to create your $SWEAT wallet account.
The $SWEAT wallet is a separate app that you'll need to download as well and link to your Sweatcoin app. Currently, US users can install the $SWEAT wallet and open it, but for now you'll just see a countdown timer until the wallet officially goes live in the US.
At the time of writing, one $SWEAT token is worth just under $0.007 USD, so this app isn't going to make you rich. But from my experience on my phone, the app running in the background isn't really proving to be a power drain on my battery (your experience may vary), so I don't mind collecting $SWEAT for something I'm already doing A LOT of in my day-to-day life: walking.
How about you? Are you using or planning to use the Sweatcoin app? I'd love to hear your thoughts below, and referral links are always welcome in my comments.
