Sunset Beach Pro, Hawaii
The next leg of the World Surf League moves just up the beach from Pipeline, to Sunset Beach - arguably two of the most well known surf beaches on the Planet - and rightly so.
Pipeline known for its shallow coral reef and awesome tube riding, and Sunset, for its big, heavy waves.
Pipeline was won by Western Australian surfer Jack Robinson and goes into the Sunset Beach Pro as favourite - he will be hard to beat, although Hawaii’s favourite son, John John Florence always does well at Sunset.
In the Women’s section, American Carissa Moore defeated Australian Tyler Wright in the Pipeline final. Both will be looking to back up their good form for Sunset, and both will be in with a good chance.
As mentioned at the start of this post, Sunset has the reputation for big, heavy waves, but unfortunately the forecast isn’t looking favourable for those types of conditions - we’ll just have to wait and see.
