Happy Nowruz Everyone! Nowruz is the Persian New Year that marks the first day of spring in the Iranian calendar. Nowruz, which means “new day” in Persian, is rooted in the Iranian religion of Zoroastrianism. The festival has been celebrated for over 3,000 years. Here are some of the Traditions and Customs of Nowruz:
- Haft-Seen Table: Families prepare a special table called “Haft-Seen”, adorned with seven symbolic items, each starting with the Persian letter “S.” These items represent renewal, prosperity, and good fortune.
- Spring Cleaning: Homes are thoroughly cleaned to welcome the new year with freshness.
- Visiting Relatives: People visit friends and family, sharing joy and well-wishes.
- Chaharshanbe Suri: On the eve of Nowruz, bonfires are lit, and people jump over them to symbolize purification and the triumph of light over darkness.
- Feasting: Sumptuous feasts are prepared, and traditional dishes are enjoyed.
May this year be filled with joy, laughter, and countless beautiful moments. May you achieve your dreams, embrace new adventures, and find love and inspiration in unexpected places. Here’s to fresh beginnings, renewed hope, and a year that sparkles with possibilities. Nowruz Mobarak!
