Ripple Co-Founder Donates $1 Million XRP to Kamala Harris
In a departure from most industry leaders, Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen has leaned toward Kamala Harris and donated $1 million in XRP to support her campaign.
According to Federal Election Commission filings, Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen made a $1 million XRP political donation on August 14.
The money went to Future Forward PAC, a fund that accepts crypto donations on behalf of Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign. Future Forward PAC partnered with Coinbase Commerce — a platform that automatically converts cryptocurrencies into the stablecoin USDC to reduce volatility.
This means that crypto donations like BTC, ETH, or XRP will be instantly converted into USDC to preserve their value.
Fox Business reporter Eleanor Terrett first reported the donation, saying it was the first crypto donation Harris has received.

This is in stark contrast to her opponent, Donald Trump, who is said to have collected $4 million in crypto donations as of July 2024.
This is understandable because of the two presidential candidates, Donald Trump has shown himself to be the most supportive of the crypto industry. He also calls himself the “Crypto President,” promising to lead the crypto industry to a brighter future if he becomes President.
Meanwhile, Harris’s campaign seems to be “slower.” It wasn’t until last month that the candidate promised to support the crypto industry if elected, but she wouldn’t announce her crypto policy before the election.
Despite this, Harris still has a lot of support, with most believing that her policies will be more accommodating and sympathetic to the industry. Perhaps that’s why the Ripple founder has leaned toward the female politician.
According to data from August 31 on Open Secrets, the PAC has so far raised more than $200 million from prominent names such as former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, venture capitalist Reid Hoffman, and exchange Coinbase. The PAC initially supported President Joe Biden’s re-election bid before he withdrew and is now funding Harris’ campaign.
