INDIAN GOVT TO BLOCK BINANCE, KUCOIN, HUOBI, AND 6 OTHERS

- The government of India has today issued compliance notices to 9 high-profile #cryptocurrency exchanges, under the country’s Money Laundering legislation.

“Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to block the URLs of said entities that are operating illegally without complying with the provisions of the PML Act in India”

- Strictly speaking, the notices were issued by India’s Ministry of Finance to the below CEXs.

Binance
Kucoin
Huobi
Kraken
Gate
Bitstamp
Bittrex
Bitfinex
MEXC

- There are yet no clear threats issued to the CEXs in case they do not comply with the notices.

- In addition, the statement from India’s Finance Ministry explicitly mentions that the aforementioned exchanges are not currently registered with India’s Financial Intelligence Unit.

- This is something the nation’s government mandated earlier in 2023.
