PREDESTINATION AND ELECTION
The eternal aim of God is to deliver those he has chosen in Christ out of humanity from curse and damnation and to bring them through Christ to everlasting salvation as vessels intended for honor. This purpose has existed since the beginning of time, before the foundations of the world were laid. Therefore, those who are given such a wonderful gift from God are called according to his purpose by his Spirit working in due season; they submit to the calling through Grace; they are justified freely; they are adopted as sons of God; they are transformed into the likeness of his Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ; they walk pious in good works; and finally, through God's mercy, they reach everlasting happiness.
As it does greatly establish and confirm their faith of eternal Salvation to be enjoyed through Christ, as well as because it fervently establishes and confirms the godly consideration of Predestination and our Election in Christ, it is full of sweet, pleasant, and unspeakable comfort to godly people and those who feel the working of the Spirit of Christ in them, mortifying the works of the flesh, and their earthly members.
Therefore, having the sentence of God's Predestination constantly in front of curious and carnal people who lack the Spirit of Christ is a very dangerous downfall that the Devil uses to drive them either into desperation or into wretchedlessness of most unclean living, which is just as dangerous as desperation.
Furthermore, we must accept God's promises in accordance with how they are typically laid out for us in holy Scripture; in addition, we must carry out God's Will as it is explicitly stated for us in the Bible.
OBTAINING ETERNAL SALVATION ONLY BY THE NAME OF CHRIST
They are also to be damned for presuming that a person would be rescued by the Law or Sect that he professes, provided that person is diligent in living his life in accordance with that Law and the guidance of Nature. Because only the Name of Jesus Christ is revealed to us in the holy Scripture as the means by which people must be saved.
THE CHURCH
The visible Church of Christ is an assembly of obedient men where the unadulterated Word of God is preached and the Sacraments are properly administered in accordance with Christ's commandment in all things necessary to the same. The Church of Rome has erred in the same ways as the Churches of Jerusalem, Alexandria, and Antioch have—not only in their practices of living and worship, but also in questions of faith.
THE AUTHORITY OF GENERAL COUNCILS
Without the permission and consent of the Princes, General Councils cannot be called. They may make mistakes, and occasionally have made mistakes, even in matters pertaining to God when they are joined together since they are an assembly of men and not all of them are under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. Therefore, unless it is permitted to declare that they be removed from holy Scripture, everything ordered by them as necessary to salvation lacks both strength and authority.
