Morality determines whether an action is considered good or bad, proper or improper. Individual behavior within a society is guided by morals.
Your moral compass is your unique set of beliefs and values about what is right and wrong. Morals aren't set in stone. They may change as you encounter new experiences, gain knowledge, or cope with adversity. Everyone has a unique moral compass. Even though many moral concepts appear to be universally accepted, there may be an infinite number of moral considerations within those foundational beliefs.

Moral compass and Ethics
The words "morals" and "ethics" are frequently used interchangeably, but they are not synonymous. According to Carleton, ethics can be aligned with morals, but ethics are the cultural and societal standards that outline how "everyone" is expected to behave.
"While a person's moral compass may influence their ethical decisions, ethics is more of an externally imposed set of standards or rules that must be followed to maintain social order and avoid chaos," he explains.
Consequences for dishonesty, such as making fraud illegal in all circumstances, are examples of ethics.
A moral example would be agreeing that dishonesty is wrong, except in certain circumstances, such as when doing so to protect yourself or another person.
