Extraction film
The pure action movie Extraction , which was shot in the autumn of 2019 , came to our living rooms this weekend, thanks to Netflix, while the whole world was sitting at home. In these epidemic days when we are 'without vision', watching everything old and new, good and bad, Extraction, supported by Chris Hemsworth , the Thor of hearts, came to the rescue of those looking for Hollywood action on the screens.
Sam Hargrave , a name who earns his living on Hollywood sets and has made his name as a stunt actor in nearly 100 films, sits in the director's chair of the action, whose script was written by Joe Russo, one of the flagship captains of the Avengers series . Netflix announced “3. "We want pure action set on Earth," he must have said, so today we are watching Extraction.
The film, which takes place mainly in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh (there was even talk of the film's first title being Dhaka), is based on the power struggle between two major drug lords, one of Bangladesh and the other of India, based on the issue of kidnapping a child. When Hindu Ovi Mahajan ( Rudhraksh Jaiswal ) is kidnapped by the men of Amir Asif ( Priyanshu Painyuli ), the mafia of Dhaka city, father Mahajan finds the solution by asking for help from mercenaries. At this point, intrepid, half-Terminator Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) steps in to save young Ovi. Walking into the bullets with nothing to lose, Rake is the perfect fit for Nik Khan ( Golshifteh Farahani ) and his team. As a matter of fact, Rake does not disappoint anyone, but this is the 3rd World, you never know! When the team that arranged the 'evacuation' operation comes into play, Rake's mission turns into a cat-and-mouse game.
So, we can say that the main adventure of the movie actually starts after the 30th minute. We watch an almost breathless chase in the streets of Dhaka, which has little share of the modern world. Especially the single shot action scene, which comes after father Mahajan's man Saju ( Randeep Hooda ) gets involved in the chase and lasts approximately 11-12 minutes, is one of the strongest trump cards of the film. On the other hand, it is not clear whose hand is in whose pocket in Bangladesh! In the subtext of the film, this 3rd World country is like an allegory of hell: The value of human beings, regardless of child or adult, is below zero, the state security forces are under the command of the drug mafia, old gun friends are blinded by money, and the only way out is to shoot guns to survive... All these and Much more is presented to the audience for 2 hours, as is the norm in Dhaka. So, pure action is not that innocent... On the other hand, if the task is to kill people, Rake, our white male character whose mood is worse than a psychopath (but he has his own pains too!), of course emerges victorious from this fight, one way or another, despite all his mortal wounds. In summary, our Hollywood catharsis does not surprise again.
While Hemsworth, the lead actor who carries the bulk of the film's burden, does not surprise with the action, the Hindu actor Randeep Hooda, who plays the character of Saju, is the other prominent actor in the film. The cinematography of the production draws a general framework for this entire world that we tried to summarize above. The hazy atmosphere accompanying the bird's eye view shots of the city and the continuation of the dark color palette in the scenes despite the rising sun are particularly preferred technical details. Of course, at this point, it should be added that no matter how much we criticize the script, we watched a technically smooth production.
