BONK Wins Memecoin Of The Year 2024 Award
The iconic memecoin on the Solana network, BONK, has been honored with the Memecoin of the Year 2024 award. This recognition was bestowed by the crypto price tracking platform, Coinmarketcap, at the inaugural CMC Crypto Awards held this year.
The CMC Crypto Awards 2024 celebrated outstanding contributors, including products and projects that have shaped the crypto and Web3 industries over the past 12 months. The event was live-streamed on March 6, 2024.
In addition to the award titles, winners received NFTs marking immutable records of their award-winning success.
Coinmarketcap stated that the winners were selected after ten days of online voting, intensive data analysis, and discussions with expert teams.
There were seven categories of awards: Crypto of the Year, Bridge Builder of the Year, Memecoin of the Year, Social Influencer to Watch, Crypto Leader Of The Year, Most Innovative L1/L2/Cross-chain, Most Innovative NFT & Gaming, and Most Innovative DeFi projects.
Solana (SOL) won the Crypto of the Year award. BlackRock emerged as the Bridge Builder of the Year recipient for successfully initiating the Bitcoin spot ETF. The Memecoin of the Year award went to BONK, a memecoin on the Solana network that has surged by over +5,800% in the last 12 months.

On-chain detective on platform X, ZachXBT, who has flagged most of the exploitations and suspicious activities across several blockchains, won the Social Influencer to Watch award.
The Most Innovative L1/L2/Cross-chain award was given to Celestia, a modular data availability network that launched its coin in October 2023.

The winner of Most Innovative NFT & Gaming was Pudgy Penguins, a series of digital collections featuring Penguin icons. Meanwhile, Uniswap, one of the popular DEXs, emerged as the winner of the Most Innovative DeFi projects award.
For the Crypto Leader Of The Year category, Coinmarketcap revealed the difficulty in choosing a single winner as five nominees were found to have made significant contributions in various ways to the crypto sector.
The five nominees were Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, Coinbase founder and CEO Brian Armstrong, Messari founder and CEO Ryan Selkis, and Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission CEO Julia Leung.
