Keanu Reeves Praises Bitcoin and the "Ideas Behind an Independent Currency"
Hey Peeps!
In a recent interview with Wired, the star of the Matrix and John Wick franchises, Keanu Reeves, discusses Bitcoin and his fascination for the "independent currency".
The interview was a deeper look into Keanu Reeves' way of thinking, as well as his working relationship with the Director of the John Wick franchise, Chad Stahelski.
Reeves and Stahelski originally met during the filming of the Matrix franchise, as Reeves was the lead star and Stahelski was his stunt-double, then eventually became the Stunt Coordinator for the later films.
During the interview, the Wired representative asks about Bitcoin and how they have a striking similarity to the gold coins used within John Wick movies.
Reeves and Stahelski jokingly take credit for proliferation of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency after the success of the John Wick franchise.
Then the interviewer mentions how cryptocurrency is having a tough time right now, and Keanu answers by first praising the concepts behind Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, and then reaffirms his belief that this tough period will pass and crypto will be that much stronger for it.
Here is the actual exchange from the Interview:
Speaking of incidentals in John Wick, those coins the hit men use. They look a lot like bitcoins, but Bitcoin wasn’t very big when you made the first movie.
Stahelski: [Laughs] We’re going to take credit for that.
It’s kind of ironic how it’s the cryptocurrency of this underworld. In the real world, crypto is having a tough time.
Reeves: I think the principle, the ideas behind an independent currency, are amazing. These are amazing tools for exchanges and distribution of resources. So to pooh-pooh crypto, or the volatility of cryptocurrency, it’s only going to make it better in terms of how it’s safeguarded.
The interview goes on to discuss topics like the Metaverse, Artificial Intelligence, ChatGPT, movie franchises, and Science Fiction.
There is a lot going on in the world of cryptocurrency, it is good to sometimes take a moment to appreciate where we are and how far we have come.
I saw this interview in the news and wanted to share something light with you peeps.
