Sarso Weightloss Dishes
Make these three delicious dishes with sarso, it will help in weight loss
Sarso Weightloss Dishes: 'Sarso ka saag and makki ki roti' is everyone's favorite food. The winter season seems incomplete without it. According to Ayurveda, sarso or mustard greens have medicinal properties and are used to treat swelling and boils. Many other dishes can also be made from this greens, rich in vitamin K, vitamin C and medicinal properties of plants.
Apart from mustard greens, different dishes can also be made by boiling, stir frying or steaming. This low calorie and low fat food is very effective for your weight loss in winter. It also helps in controlling cholesterol and is rich in fiber. Let's have a look at the different mustard dishes-
1. Mustard Sauce
material:
Mustard leaves (chopped) – 200 grams
Green chili (chopped) – 2
Ginger - ½ inch
Salt - ½ tsp
Raw mango - 3-4 small pieces
Method of preparation:
Wash and chop the mustard leaves thoroughly.
Take a mixing jar, add mustard seeds, green chillies, ginger, salt and raw mango and make a paste.
Remove from the jar and serve with cutlets and pulao.
2. Mustard Soup
material:
Mustard leaves (chopped) - 3 cups
Spinach leaves (chopped) – 3 cups
Olive oil - ½ tsp
Cumin - ½ tsp
Fenugreek seeds - ¼ tsp
Onion chopped - ½ cup
Ginger grated - ¼ inch
Milk - 1 ½ cup
salt - as per taste
Butter - ½ tsp
Way:
Heat 1/2 tsp olive oil in a pan, then add cumin and fenugreek seeds and let it brown.
Add chopped onions and fry, then add grated ginger, garlic. Fry for 30 seconds.
Add chopped spinach and mustard leaves. Sauté the greens for about 5-10 minutes until they wilt.
Add milk and salt as per taste.
- Put this mixture in a blender, blend well to make a smooth soup consistency
Return the soup to the pan and heat it.
To temper the soup, heat butter, add grated ginger, stir for a few minutes and add to the soup.
Serve hot.
3. Mustard Khichdi
material:
Masoor dal (washed) - ½ cup
Rice (washed, pre-soaked for 30 minutes and drained) - 1 cup
Green Chilli slit from the middle - 1 pc
salt to taste
Garam masala - 1 tsp
Mustard leaves (washed and trimmed) – 1 bunch
Ginger - 1 pc
garlic - 1 pc
Crushed Peanuts - Few
Way:
- Put lentils, rice, salt, green chillies and garam masala in the cooker, mix well and heat till the rice is cooked.
Now put mustard leaves, ginger, garlic, crushed peanuts in the cooker. Cook on medium heat till one whistle.
- Serve hot with curd or pickle.
