War cry
War, a word that fills our hearts with dread
A time of violence, of death and tears
Of families torn apart, of loved ones lost
Of homes and cities reduced to rubble and dust
In war, there are no winners, only losers
No matter who emerges as the victor
For in the end, all that is left is pain and sorrow
And the scars of war that last for tomorrow
But war is not just fought on battlefields far away
It rages in the hearts and minds of those who stay
As they wait and worry, as they grieve and mourn
For those who never returned, for those who were torn
From the ones they love, from the lives they knew
War takes its toll, it leaves a mark so true
And yet, we still fight, we still go to war
For reasons that often seem obscure
But perhaps one day, we will learn to lay down our arms
To find a way to live and let live, to find some charm
In the differences that set us apart
And find a way to heal the wounds of the heart
For war is not the answer, it never has been
It only serves to bring more suffering and sin
So let us strive for peace, for understanding and love
And leave the horrors of war, to the heavens above
