Splinterlands | Weapons Training

Weapons Training is one of the newest abilities in the Splinterverse. I hadn’t used it for a long time, but once I started using it, I couldn’t stop. I mean, there is nothing there to not like.

What is the ability all about? Any card with the weapons training ability can give an adjacent non-attack card, the same attack as it has. So, a weapons training card with a magic attack can provide an adjacent non-attack card with a magic attack. This proves very useful across multiple battles.

Why don’t we see this ability in action? But before that, shall we spend a minute getting to know Splinterlands? After all, that’s where you will find all these fun battles, abilities, rules, and monsters.

What Game is Splinterlands?

Splinterlands is a digital card game that allows you to collect, trade, battle, rent, and even earn from the cards. ***The game gives Play to Earn a whole different meaning.*** By now, you would know that the governance token (SPS) airdrop made millionaires out of the early adopters. It still keeps giving and remains a fun and engaging game.

To give you an idea of how lucky you can get in Splinterlands, read my story of getting cards worth $500 from buying only a few packs worth $20.

Got Cards Worth $500 from $20 Packs

And this is just a tiny number. I have witnessed people getting uber-expensive cards in their pack and selling them for as high as $6500. In fact, there is a whole Splinterlands marketplace on the Hive blockchain and now on Wax too. And now the sales of the Rebellion packs, the newest of the lot, have also started.

Weapons Training Ability

The Weapons Training ability cards are mighty useful in all kinds of battles. However, low-mana battles or rules allowing monsters with armor, more than three speeds, etc. are the ones where the Weapons Training Ability shines through.

Not only does the card make a non-attack card an attacking one, but also gives it the same attack value. So, a weapons training card with two magic attacks will give the non-attack card also two magic attacks. This makes for a strong lineup from a set of weak cards. That’s what makes this ability quite cool.

Let’s jump to a battle where we see a card with the weapons training ability.

The Battle | Frowns and Angry Brows

We will take a look at the rules and then proceed to the battle.

The battle has a 22-mana cap. It also has the cripple and enrage rules in play. So, the card selection would be keeping these rules in mind. Finally, only Water, Death, Fire, and Life Splinters are allowed in battle.

Let’s see the teams on both sides.

The Face-Off Screen

And here is the lineup.

My team is at the bottom of the screen while the opponent’s is at the top. I went with the Death Splinter while the opponent chose the Water Splinter. In the case of my team, the card in the second position is the one with weapons training ability. The card in the third position is a non-attack card. It is visible over here in the picture that it has no attack.

Now watch as the battle starts. The non-attack card will also get a magic attack.

We Battle Hard

The battle was quite a grueling one.

But first and foremost notice the non-attack card. It has got two magic attacks just like the weapons training ability card. This is what the ability does. If I had one more non-attack card, I could have put it on the other side (of the weapons training ability card) and it would have also got magic attacks. And this is one of the reasons why I will win this battle.

Anyway, we have entered the third round and the opponent’s and my tanks are gone. I still have three cards to the opponent’s two. That’s an advantage already. But notice that I have two attack cards (including the original non-attack one) while the opponent has just one attack card in the first position.

My team definitely is stronger.

And The Battle Races to Conclusion

The battle took some time to race to a conclusion.

It went right up to round 7 for the battle to conclude. In the end, it was the non-attack card that finished the battle. There could be no better demonstration of the weapons training ability. 😊

A Hard-Fought Battle | An Interesting Result

I won. The battle highlights how low-mana non-attack cards can become useful and lethal with weapons training cards. This alone turns a battle around in our favor. Fun would be to watch the opponent and me, both using weapons-training ability cards. 😊

I loved the battle. How about you? I hope you enjoyed reading about the battle too. You can also look at it live in the links provided below. Have fun! 😊

Namaste!
