Well, the first official week of the Auspol Engage2Earn system on Bulb has wrapped up, and what a week it's been! We kicked things off with a fair bit of fanfare, introducing a way for all you good folks following the Auspol project to turn your online engagement into cold, hard (well, digital) $AUSPOL tokens.

For anyone still scratching their head wondering what Engage2Earn is all about, it's basically our way of coordinating community action to boost important online content related to Aussie politics, fight back against misinformation (and dodgy foreign influences!), and reward you for being part of the solution. We post missions, you jump in, and if we hit the target together, $AUSPOL goes into a weekly reward pool. Simple, right?

Week 1 Mission Debrief: The Results Are In!

We had six missions go [LIVE] over the past week, targeting a range of different online content and offering up a decent stack of $AUSPOL as potential rewards. Here’s the blow-by-blow:

Mission: Save Our PBS From Trump

Outcome: FAILED ❌
The Gist: This was the big one for the week in terms of potential reward. Clearly aimed at highlighting concerns about potential negative influences on our public broadcasting, drawing parallels with US scenarios. Unfortunately, despite the high stakes, we didn't quite get the numbers needed to hit the target within the timeframe. A disappointing start, but a reminder that big goals require big community effort.

Mission: Shayne Neumann MP (Blair) Boost

The Gist: An effort to amplify content related to Shayne Neumann, the Labor MP for Blair in Queensland. Boosting local members doing good work is crucial. Sadly, this one also fell short of its engagement goal.

Mission: Chalmers Stands Up To MAGA

Outcome: SUCCESS! ✅
The Gist: YES! Our first victory! This mission was focused on amplifying messaging around Treasurer Jim Chalmers taking a stand against harmful MAGA-style ideologies influencing Australia. The community rallied, hit the target, and banked a cool 20 Million $AUSPOL for the Week 1 airdrop pool! Onya, team! This proves we can get it done when we focus our efforts. Ripper result!

Mission: Sam Rae for Hawke Boost

The Gist: Another mission aimed at boosting a specific Labor MP, this time Sam Rae in the Victorian seat of Hawke. Similar to the Neumann mission, we couldn't quite muster the required engagement numbers in time.

Mission: Julian Hill (Bruce) Boost

The Gist: Focused on Julian Hill, the member for Bruce in Victoria. Seems like boosting local members' content needs a bit more concentrated firepower from the community. Another one that slipped through our fingers.

Mission: McEwen Boost for Rob Mitchell

The Gist: Rounding out the week with another attempt to amplify a local member, Rob Mitchell in McEwen, Victoria. Unfortunately, this followed the pattern of the other local MP boosts and didn't reach its target.

The Week 1 Tally: Potential vs. Reality

So, let's crunch the numbers for Week 1:

Total Potential Rewards Offered: If we had successfully completed all six missions, a massive 102 Million $AUSPOL would have been added to the community airdrop pool.
Total Rewards Actually Unlocked: Thanks to our success on the Chalmers/MAGA mission, a total of 20 Million $AUSPOL was secured for the Week 1 airdrop pool. See this thread for our airdrop recipients.

What does this tell us?

Well, first off, 20 Million $AUSPOL flowing to engaged community members is nothing to sneeze at! Good onya to everyone who participated, especially on the Chalmers mission. Your clicks and engagement directly contributed to that reward pool.

However, let's be fair dinkum – a 1-out-of-6 success rate isn't exactly smashing it. We left 82 Million potential $AUSPOL rewards on the table! This clearly shows we've got room for improvement and highlights a crucial point we mentioned in the main Engage2Earn guide: community size and active participation are EVERYTHING.

Hitting these engagement targets – especially the bigger ones – requires a coordinated effort from a lot of people. While it's great that 20 Million $AUSPOL will be distributed, imagine how much bigger that pool could have been if we'd managed to nail even half the missions!

This first week serves as a vital lesson: we need more active participants. The Engage2Earn system is designed so that more people participating makes it easier to succeed, which in turn makes the reward pool bigger for everyone (even though it's shared among more people). It’s a win-win, but it relies on collective action.
