What if Shark Tank went crypto? Meet the new reality show that seeks to promote the Web3 ecosystem
Shark Tank is one of the most successful television shows in recent years, where entrepreneurs present their business ideas to a panel of investors who decide whether to support them or not. But what would happen if this format were adapted to the world of cryptocurrencies and Web3? That is the proposal of Killer Whales, the new reality show produced by Hello Labs and CoinMarketCap, which will premiere this year on several streaming platforms.
Killer Whales is the first Web3 television show to be broadcast globally, according to its creators. In it, participants will be able to show their cryptocurrency and NFT (non-fungible tokens) projects before a group of judges, made up of influencers from the Web3 industry, such as company founders, influencers and venture capitalists. The goal is to get as many “swim” votes as possible from the judges for a chance to top the heat standings and be crowned the winner.
The program seeks to open the door to the next billion users on Web3, entertaining and educating them on all things cryptocurrency, according to Hello Labs CEO Sander Gortjes. In addition, it aims to boost the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in the space of digital assets and NFTs, offering a showcase so that projects can obtain visibility, financing and support.
Those interested in participating in Killer Whales will be able to submit their applications to Hello.one and CoinMarketCap starting May 2. Those selected will go through several rounds of interviews in Hollywood, where the program will be recorded. The premiere is scheduled for the end of this year, and can be seen on services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Hello TV, Hello Labs' video-on-demand service.
Killer Whales joins other initiatives that seek to bring the world of cryptocurrencies and Web3 closer to the mass public, through different entertainment formats. For example, Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon will launch an animated series called Krapopolis, which will have its own collection of NFTs and allow viewers to interact with the show. Also, some NFT collections such as NounsDAO and Doodles have announced plans to produce animated films and series based on their characters.
