Dominic Monaghan

Dominic Bernard Patrick Luke Monaghan, born on 8 December 1976, is a renowned British actor celebrated for his versatile performances across various mediums.


His journey in the entertainment industry began with Hetty Wainthropp Investigates (1996–1998), where he gained fame as Geoffrey, the sidekick to Hetty Wainthropp. Monaghan ventured into film with his debut role as Sasha in the television film Hostile Waters (1997), recounting the true story of a collision between Soviet and US submarines during the Cold War.


Monaghan's cinematic repertoire further includes notable roles such as portraying the young mutant Chris Bradley, formerly known as Maverick, in the superhero film X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009). He also graced the Star Wars universe in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019), playing the character Beaumont Kin. This marked a reunion with J.J. Abrams, the co-creator of Lost.

Dominic Bernard Patrick Luke Monaghan was born in West Berlin, West Germany, to British parents Maureen and Austin Monaghan. His mother, Maureen, served as a nurse, while his father, Austin, who had Irish roots, worked as a science teacher.


The Monaghan family's early years were marked by a nomadic lifestyle, residing in various German cities including Berlin, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, and Münster, with relocations occurring approximately every four years.Around the age of 11, the Monaghan family moved to Heaton Moor in Stockport, England.


In Stockport, Dominic attended St Anne's Roman Catholic High School, where his uncle was a teacher and later became the head teacher. He furthered his education at Aquinas College, focusing on English literature, drama, and geography.
