Tomcat has the Latin name Paederus sp. When our skin is exposed to fluids from the body of the tomcat, the skin will become reddish accompanied by watery spots, may fester, blister, feel like stinging and burning. This skin condition is known as dermatitis venenata. In more severe conditions tomcat can cause fever, joint pain, and vomiting. If you are exposed to tomcat, you should see a doctor so that further examination can be carried out to determine the cause of complaints on your skin because the symptoms of tomcat are similar to the symptoms of herpes. In general, tomcat can heal by itself. The treatment given aims to relieve symptoms and prevent secondary infection with anti-inflammatory ointments / creams containing steroids. Anti-pain medications and antibiotics are given only when necessary. You should also keep the wound clean by washing it with clean water and soap.
