Nissan’s Metaverse: Cars & Safety in VR

Gear up for a unique metaverse experience from Nissan! Combining iconic car history with interactive driver education, the “Heritage Cars & Safe Drive Studio” lets you explore Nissan’s legacy while learning valuable safety lessons.

Available on Meta Quest’s VRChat, this immersive exhibit showcases three legendary Nissan models:

• The Silvia Q’s S13: Go beyond its drifting fame and discover how pedestrian clothing colors impact driver awareness.
• The Skyline 2000GTX-E: Test your focus in a field-of-view minigame and learn how multitasking affects safety behind the wheel. (Remember those epic Gran Turismo and Fast & Furious moments?)
• A 1950s American Dreamscape: Take a nostalgic trip to a classic diner and drive-in, complete with a hands-on steering wheel exercise.

Developed with Japanese university researchers, these experiences join Nissan’s growing metaverse portfolio, including their 2022 virtual test drive. Additionally, in December 2023, they refreshed four existing metaverse worlds to celebrate their 90th anniversary.

Nissan’s commitment to the metaverse coincides with the maturation of AR and VR hardware. With Apple’s mixed-reality headset launch in February 2024, the competition for consumer and enterprise adoption is heating up.
