On April 28 US time, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced a long-term military aid package worth $ 6 billion for Ukraine. This is considered the largest U.S. military aid package to Ukraine since the beginning of the Ukraine-Russia conflict. It allows the U.S. to buy more equipment made by U.S. companies to ship to the Ukrainian military.

"This is the largest security assistance package we've committed to date. It includes critical equipment for Patriot missiles and NASAMS air defense systems, multiple anti-drone systems and support equipment, a significant number of artillery shells, as well as air-to-ground ammunition, and maintenance support," Austin said at an April 26 press conference.

Earlier, the US announced a $1 billion aid package aimed at urgently sending equipment to Ukraine. The development follows U.S. President Joe Biden signing $95 billion in aid legislation, with about $61 billion in aid to Ukraine.

Is Spain about to send missiles to Ukraine?

Kyiv is struggling in its conflict with Russia, which began in February 2022 when Russia launched its "special military operation." The lack of ammunition and air capability is arguably Ukraine's biggest obstacle amid fears of an imminent Russian offensive this summer.

Russia's deputy defense minister appeals through lawyer

On April 26, TASS news agency reported that lawyers for Russian Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov filed an appeal against the court's decision to detain him before trial.
Earlier on April 23, Russia's Federal Investigative Committee announced that it had arrested Ivanov on suspicion of accepting bribes. Also detained was Sergei Borodin, an associate of Ivanov. Court records say Alexander Fomin, co-founder of construction company Olimpsitistroy, is suspected of paying bribes to Ivanov and Borodin
