Away from this background overview of Namecheap. We in the Crypto industry woke up to see crew3 domain was taken down.
Many people may not have noticed it but those of us that are associated with many blockchain projects are aware of what happened to crew3 platform in the early hours of today.
According to a twitter post on the official Twitter handle of the protocol, their domain provider Namecheap suspended crew3.xyz domain without sending prior information or warning.
Where is what cew3 tweeted.
"Here is the answer of @Namecheap
"As the subdomain contains a trademark and uses a logo of the registered brand, for us to be sure that it was registered for legitimate purposes only, you will need to provide us with paperwork proving your cooperation with the @zksync website and their consent to use their official denomination in your domain name. Such evidence may be an official document that outlines your relation to official business...
Alternatively, an official representative of zkSync can email us directly with a claim that you have lawful grounds to act on their behalf. The paperwork should be scanned, converted to PDF format, and sent to us via email. Otherwise, the domain name will remain suspended.
Thank you for understanding."
Well, thank you very much for your understanding of our application as well @Namecheap!
Not a single warning before shutting down an entire web app with 1M visitors per month...
Not a single check of the nature of our application.
We have hundreds of subdomains including registered trademarks like Starknet @ultra_io @ARC8App @harvest_finance @APWineFinance @AptosLabs @swissborg @SuiNetwork @exclusible @Dogami @pianitynft and 500+ more... Wrote Crew3.
I must say this is condemnable and totally incentive. This is the power of centralization in display. The same scenario Solcial network is standing against in the creative industries is what is playing out in the developers' world.
While we may recommend that crew3 move over to a more professional domain host, we can't deny that fact that the same occurrences may play out since the service is not decentralized. We should look at what content creators are passing through in the hands of moderators and project owners. Censorship is now like an internet pandemic that all and sundry should join Solcial.io to fight.
