A Different Career Path
When a new field is invented, it is not the salaryman, the businessman or the hitman who dominates it; it is the inventor. A new field does not need to be commercialized or sweep the world or usher in a new era. Whether it's raising sheep or families, creating eco-communities or tech companies, or preparing for the end of the world, People are the ones who can make it happen.
For generations, many people have used making and buying money as an end rather than a means to an end. They spend their most creative years at a job they don't really care about, after which they come home, exhausted from dealing with spouses, kids, dinners, bills, trying to keep up with the neighbors, drained of energy, and worn out in front of the TV.
The new generation is beginning to question the wisdom of joining this program, known as the "rat race". Some have decided not to compete for the top job in the corporate pyramid scheme, whereas in the previous phase, people were more eager to climb the corporate ladder; instead, they are bypassing the gatekeepers of the traditional career paths and looking for new places of employment to avoid the overcrowded traditional job market.
The big question, therefore, is whether to play the game of modern consumer society or to start something different, and may I say more creative? We live in a consumer society centered on services and finance, which is based on the consumption of natural resources.
We also see the emerging problems of consumer society - stress, overwork, inflation, lack of balance, lack of paradigm shifting innovation, stagnation and loss of control - both at the individual level and at the national level.
