On April 4, 2025, SEC issued a statement: USD stablecoins are not considered securities.

This statement brings even more legitimacy and regulatory clarity in the crypto space when it comes to what is classified as a security. A huge boost in confidence across the board for stablecoin issuers + developers.

Some open-ended questions:
- Will non-fiat-backed stablecoin, utility token, governance token not be classified as security?
- What about tokens that are floated on a decentralised exchange?
