Poet Sukanta Bhattacharya's writing is very memorable today -

The world is prosaic in the state of hunger,
the full moon is like scorched bread.

In the kingdom of hunger, poetry is really forbidden. Where there is extreme poverty, poetry is luxury. When the fire of hunger burns in the stomach, seeing the full moon no longer evokes the feeling of poetry, then the moon itself seems like a huge loaf of bread. Fire like Jathragani is not observed anywhere else in this world. In the intense biological urge to survive, even today, people in a part of the world have adopted the habit of eating like animals.

The people of some countries of the world who are suffering from severe financial problems are relieving the burning of stomach hunger by eating the things that we can never imagine eating, even if it is far from eating. In some African countries, famine is spreading its black wings little by little. However, today I am not talking about any African country. I want to talk about Haiti today.

Haiti is a small island nation in the West Indies. Hispaniola, an island in the Caribbean Sea, occupies the western third of the island of Hispaniola and the independent state of Haiti. In 1804 France was freed from its subjugation by a bloody slave revolution. Haiti is the only country in the world that was built entirely by slaves.

Haiti's biggest problem is its poverty. Haiti is the poorest country in all of Latin America and North America. On top of that, two growing problems in Haiti have pushed the country into extreme poverty. The first problem is the destruction of forests and trafficking of natural resources. And the second problem is the constant violent political unrest in the country.

Due to this two-pronged problem, the country is today below the extreme poverty line. Half of the country's population is so poor that they fail to get enough food every day. The burning of hunger is great burning. They are forced to buy and eat cakes and biscuits worth only a nominal amount. However, real cakes are not biscuits. Mud cake biscuits. what Are you surprised? I am speaking the truth. There is no lie in these words.

I have already said that the burning sensation of hunger is a great burning sensation. How many inedible junk food do poor people eat in addition to this burning. But, so the soil eats! It is really incredible. But, a large population of Haiti eats soil to survive the burning of hunger. Mud cakes and biscuits are available in almost all slum shops.

First, a group of business class people dug the foot of the hill and collected the soft reddish silt and dried it in the sun and stored it. That soil is bought by a class of people, whose profession is to make clay cakes and biscuits. First they grind this dry soil into fine powder, then sieve out the gravel, gravel, sand and crushed stone. Then the powder is mixed with water to make lei. Then the food is mixed with salt, soda and spices. After that, when it becomes sticky, it gives them the shape of cakes and biscuits. Then it is dried in the sun for a few days and then baked in the fire. Basically, this is how clay cakes and biscuits are made.

These clay cakes and biscuits are sold at almost nominal prices. Poor people in Haiti buy and eat these mud-based foods in gogras to quench their stomach fires. And think about how much food we waste every day!
