Emily Osment, born on March 10, 1992, is an American actress, singer, and songwriter from Los Angeles. She started her career as a child actress, appearing in various television shows and films. She gained recognition for her role as Gerti Giggles in the "Spy Kids" film series and as Lilly Truscott in the Disney Channel series "Hannah Montana," which also had a film spinoff.
Osment's notable film roles include Cassie Keller in "The Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It" and Melissa Morris in the Disney Channel film "Dadnapped." She starred as Taylor Hillridge in the television film "Cyberbully" and portrayed Roxie in the streaming series "Cleaners." Additionally, she appeared as the Blonde Bopper in "Guardians of the Galaxy" and as Roxy Doyle in the Fox television series "Almost Family."
She gained further acclaim for her role as Gabi Diamond in the Freeform series "Young & Hungry," earning three Teen Choice Award nominations. From 2018 to 2021, she had a recurring role as Theresa in the Netflix comedy-drama series "The Kominsky Method," which earned her two Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. Currently, Osment has a recurring role as Mandy in the CBS sitcom "Young Sheldon" since 2022.
In music, Osment gained prominence by recording songs for the soundtracks of her Disney projects. Notably, she recorded a duet with Mitchel Musso titled "If I Didn't Have You" and covered "Once Upon a Dream." She signed a recording contract with Wind-Up Records in 2009, releasing an extended play titled "All the Right Wrongs" and a studio album called "Fight or Flight" in 2010. Presently, she performs under the alias Bluebiird and has released an extended play titled "When I Loved You" in 2019.
Emily Jordan Osment was born on March 10, 1992, in Los Angeles, to actor Michael Eugene Osment and Theresa Osment (née Seifert), who worked as an English teacher. She was raised in a Roman Catholic household. Her father has appeared in several films, including one alongside Emily in "Soccer Mom." Additionally, Emily's older brother is the Academy Award-nominated actor Haley Joel Osment.
Emily Osment's journey into the entertainment industry began in 1997 when she landed a role in a commercial for the flower delivery company FTD. Following this, she appeared in several commercials before making her acting debut in the 1999 film "The Secret Life of Girls," alongside Eugene Levy and Linda Hamilton. That same year, she co-starred with Glenn Close in the Hallmark Classic television film "Sarah, Plain and Tall: Winter's End," a role that earned her a Young Artist Award nomination. Osment also had a brief appearance in the music video for Smash Mouth's "All Star," portraying the girl in the referee uniform.
Subsequently, Osment continued to build her career with appearances on television shows such as "Touched by an Angel," "Friends," and "3rd Rock from the Sun."
Her film debut came in 2002 when she portrayed Gerti Giggles in "Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams," a role that earned her the Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film. She reprised this role in the third installment of the Spy Kids series, "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over," released in 2003, which achieved considerable success at the box office. Additionally, Osment lent her voice to characters in animated films like "Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch" and "Edward Fubbwupper Fibbed Big."
In 2005, Emily Osment landed the role of Lilly Truscott in the Disney Channel series "Hannah Montana," where she portrayed the best friend of Miley Stewart and the girlfriend of Oliver Oken during seasons 3 and 4. As Lilly, she assumed the alias Lola Luftnagle when Miley was in her Hannah persona. The series premiered to record ratings for the Disney Channel, drawing in 5.4 million viewers, a response that exceeded expectations.
Her performance in "Hannah Montana" earned Osment a nomination for the Young Artist Award in 2007 for Best Performance in a TV Series (Comedy or Drama). Additionally, Osment contributed to the design of some clothing pieces for the Hannah Montana Disney collection.
During this time, Osment also ventured into music. She recorded several songs for various projects, including "Don't Ya Just Love Christmas" and "One Day" for the movie "Holidaze: The Christmas That Almost Didn't Happen." Osment also collaborated with Mitchel Musso on a remake of the song "If I Didn't Have You" for the DisneyMania 6 CD and recorded a cover of "Once Upon A Dream."
Osment's involvement in music continued with recordings like "Hero in Me" for the Disney Channel original movie "Dadnapped." She also starred in "Dadnapped," which premiered in February 2009.
Her diverse talents were further showcased when she starred as a goth character in R. L. Stine's "The Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It," for which she received a Young Artist Award nomination in 2008 for Best Performance in a TV Movie, Miniseries, or Special Leading Young Actress.
In 2008, Osment was also ranked No. 1 on Parade magazine and Forbes' Hot Kid Stars To Watch list. She starred in the film "Soccer Mom" and continued her successful career both on-screen and in music.
In June 2009, Emily Osment signed with Wind-Up Records and embarked on writing and recording tracks with artists like Eve 6, Tom Higgenson, Max Collins, Tony Fagenson, Toby Gad, and Mandi Perkins. Her debut single, "All the Way Up," was released on August 25, 2009, and peaked at No. 76 on the Canadian Hot 100 chart. Following this, Osment released her debut extended play, "All The Right Wrongs," on October 26, 2009, which peaked at No. 117 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and No. 1 on the Top Heatseekers chart.
In February 2010, Osment released "You Are the Only One" as the second single from her EP. While it didn't make a significant impact on charts, it enjoyed some success on Radio Disney.
Osment embarked on the Clap Your Hands Tour, consisting of nine dates in the United States. She confirmed on Good Day New York that her debut album would be released in the summer of 2010. "Let's Be Friends" was released as the album's lead single on June 8, 2010, reaching No. 24 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart and No. 67 in Germany.
In October 2010, Osment released her debut album, "Fight or Flight," which focused on electropop and synthpop. The album peaked at No. 170 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and No. 2 on the Top Heatseekers chart. The second single, "Lovesick," was released in February 2011 and achieved success on the UK Singles Chart and the Canadian Hot 100.
Osment embarked on her second tour, the Fight or Flight Tour, to promote her album. The tour included concerts in North America, Europe, and Latin America.
In March 2010, Osment lent her voice to the animated series "Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil" on Disney XD. She also released the duet single "Hush" with Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench in May 2011.
In 2011, Osment starred in the ABC Family movie "Cyberbully," which aimed to raise awareness about Internet harassment. The film received positive reviews, and Osment released her single "Drift" to promote the film.
