Jerome Patrick Flynn, born on 16 March 1963, is an accomplished English actor and singer, renowned for his diverse roles in both television and music. His notable portrayals include Paddy Garvey in the ITV series Soldier Soldier, the cunning Bronn in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, the determined Bennet Drake in Ripper Street, and Banner Creighton in the Paramount+ western series 1923.
Flynn's musical talents became evident during his collaboration with Soldier Soldier co-star Robson Green in the latter half of the 1990s. Together, they formed the musical duo Robson & Jerome. Their rendition of "Unchained Melody" achieved significant success, claiming the number 1 spot on the UK Chart for an impressive 7 weeks. The single sold over a million copies and emerged as the best-selling single of 1995. The duo continued their musical triumph with two more number 1 singles: "I Believe" and "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted." Their eponymous debut album and the subsequent Take Two both secured the top spot on the UK Albums Chart, solidifying their impact on the music scene.
Jerome Patrick Flynn was born on 16 March 1963 in Bromley, Kent (now part of Greater London). His father, Eric Flynn, was not only an actor and singer but also born on Hainan Island in China. Flynn's mother, Fern Flynn, was a drama teacher. He has a brother named Daniel Flynn, who is also an actor, and a sister. Additionally, he has a half-sister and half-brother, Johnny Flynn, who is recognized as a musician and actor, stemming from his father's second marriage.
Jerome Patrick Flynn's career is marked by a series of impressive performances across television and film:
- In 1986, Flynn appeared in the LWT television film "London's Burning" as firefighter Kenny "Rambo" Baines. However, he couldn't reprise the role when the film evolved into a series due to prior commitments. Additionally, he played a minor role as the soldier "Franny" in "The Monocled Mutineer."
- In 1988, Flynn portrayed Freddie in the ITV drama "The Fear," centered around the London underworld. He also played D.S Eddie Hargreaves for six episodes in the British Academy Television Award-winning police drama "Between The Lines" from 1992 to 1994.
- Flynn gained widespread recognition for his role as Corporal Paddy Garvey in the ITV series "Soldier Soldier," which began in 1991. His collaboration with Robson Green in performing "Unchained Melody" on the show led to the formation of the musical duo Robson & Jerome. They achieved immense success with chart-topping singles and albums.
- After "Soldier Soldier," Flynn starred as Eddie Wallis alongside Robson Green in the comedy-drama "Ain't Misbehavin'" in 1997.

- In 2022, he starred alongside Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren in Taylor Sheridan’s "1923," a spin-off from the "Yellowstone" series with Kevin Costner. Flynn played Scottish sheep farmer Banner Creighton.

Flynn portrayed Corporal Paddy Garvey of the King's Fusiliers in the ITV series Soldier Soldier. The series began in 1991. He acted alongside Robson Green in the series. After Flynn and Green performed Unchained Melody on the programme, ITV was inundated by people looking to buy the song, and the pair were persuaded by record producer Simon Cowell to record it and release it as a single, a double A-side with White Cliffs of Dover.
The single was released under the name Robson & Jerome and reached number one in the UK chart in 1995. It stayed at No.1 for 7 weeks in the UK Singles Chart, selling more than 1.9 million copies and making it the best-selling single of the year, and winning the duo the Music Week Awards in 1996 for best single and best album. The duo had two more number one hits in 1995 and 1996 with "I Believe" and "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted" both re-makes of standards, they also produced two number one albums.In 1997, Soldier Soldier ended. Flynn went on to star as Eddie Wallis (alongside singing partner Robson Green) in the comedy-drama Ain't Misbehavin'.
In 1999, Flynn starred in the short-lived police show Badger, played real-life footballer Bobby Charlton in the film Best, played Tommy Cooper in Jus' Like That, a tribute to the comic magician written by John Fisher and directed by Simon Callow.
In 2007, Flynn having semi-retired from acting and moved to Pembrokeshire, directed and starred in the low budget film Rude Tales. The film was split into a series of short stories centred in the lead character, Jerome Rude, played by Flynn. The film was screened at a small number of independent cinemas in the Pembrokeshire area.
In July 2010, after almost 10 years away from acting, it was confirmed that Flynn would be playing the role of Bronn in the HBO television series Game of Thrones, based on the A Song of Ice and Fire novels of George R. R. Martin.
