Kathryn Love Newton, born on February 8, 1997, is an American actress recognized for her versatile performances across various television series and films. She gained prominence for her roles in both comedic and dramatic projects.


Newton's early breakthrough came with her portrayal of Louise Brooks in the CBS comedy series "Gary Unmarried," where she showcased her comedic talents from 2008 to 2010. She further solidified her television presence with notable roles such as Abigail Carlson in the HBO mystery drama "Big Little Lies" (2017–2019) and Allie Pressman in the Netflix teen drama "The Society" (2019). Additionally, she portrayed the older versions of Claire Novak in The CW's dark fantasy series "Supernatural" (2014–2018) and Joanie Clark in the AMC period drama series "Halt and Catch Fire" (2016–2017).

Kathryn Love Newton, born in Orlando, Florida, is the only child of Robin and David Newton. Her upbringing involved a passion for golf, starting at the young age of eight when she began playing in tournaments.


She completed her high school education at Notre Dame High School in 2015. Newton's athletic prowess extended to her involvement in the school's golf team, where she contributed significantly to their success, aiding them in winning three league championships. Known for her impressive golfing skills, she consistently achieved scores in the 70s, with her lowest 18-hole score being a remarkable 69. Notably, she set a school record with a remarkable five-under-par round in a nine-hole match, demonstrating her exceptional talent on the golf course. With a plus-2 handicap, Newton showcased her proficiency in the sport.


Despite her promising golfing career, Newton made the decision to postpone her college education at the University of Southern California (USC) to pursue her passion for acting. While she initially considered the possibility of joining USC's women's golf team as a "walk-on" member, her dedication to acting ultimately took precedence. This decision came after she landed the lead role in "Paranormal Activity 4," forcing her to withdraw from the sectional qualifier for the 2012 U.S. Women's Open.

In 2008, Newton secured the role of Louise Brooks in the CBS television series "Gary Unmarried."


At the age of twelve, Newton's family relocated to Los Angeles, where she attended Notre Dame High School. In 2010, she received two Young Artist Awards for her outstanding performances in "Gary Unmarried," winning in the categories of "Best Performance in a TV Comedy Series" and "Best Performance in a TV series (Comedy or Drama)."
Her film career continued to flourish, with notable roles such as Chase Rubin-Rossi in the 2011 film "Bad Teacher" and the lead role of Alex in the 2012 film "Paranormal Activity 4," for which she received an award at the 34th Young Artist Awards.


Newton ventured into television with a recurring role as Claire Novak on "Supernatural," starting in season 10. In 2017, she appeared in the HBO series "Big Little Lies" and had major roles in the films "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" and "Ben Is Back."
