Colonel Harland David Sanders was born in Indiana on September 9, 1890. Sanders, who lost his father at the age of 5, had a difficult childhood with the difficulties of being the eldest of three siblings. He had to take responsibility for his siblings as a result of their financial difficulties and his mother taking a job to earn money. Even though he was only 5 years old, Sanders took care of all his siblings' needs, such as changing their diapers and feeding them. While taking care of his siblings, he had to cook for them, which laid the foundations for his future work at an early age.
At the age of 10, Harland Sanders started working at any job he could find. Around this time, his mother remarried, and Sanders, unable to endure the cruelty of his stepfather, took a new direction in his life and left home. After leaving home, he forged his birth date on his identity card and joined the US Army. At the age of 18, he left the army and married Josephine King. Until the age of 22, he worked as a conductor on trains. He had three children from his marriage, but Harland, his only son, died before he lived long. After Sanders was fired from his job, Josephine King left home with the children.

Despite working in many different jobs over the years, Sanders' attempt to study law ended in disappointment. Despite being over 40 years old, Sanders was still unable to make a living, which led him to despair. He even contemplated suicide at the time. But then he remembered his aptitude and talent for cooking and decided to open a restaurant.
He bought a gas station, motel and restaurant in a town called Corbin. Serving food to customers who came to buy fuel, Sanders' reputation for delicious food soon spread throughout the city. Sanders was given the rank of Kentucky Colonel for his contributions to the state's cuisine. When he saw the positive feedback to his sauce prepared with various spices, which he usually used on chicken, he improved the recipe of his sauce. After divorcing his estranged wife in 1948, he married his assistant Claudia Ledington.

Sanders, who has made a name for himself in the fried chicken business, has seen his business take a serious downturn as the road to his plant is no longer usable due to a new highway. He had to sell everything he owned to pay off his accumulated debts. He was now 66 years old and back to square one. All he had left was his pension.

Losing everything didn't deter Harland Sanders. After a period of reflection, he began knocking on the doors of restaurants all over America to sell his popular chicken recipe. During this time he slept in his car. He traveled for a long time but could not find a restaurant interested in his recipe. According to legend, 1008 restaurants refused to take the recipe. The 1009th restaurant he visited decided to take his recipe and accepted it on the condition that they would pay him per item sold.

Sanders chicken recipe was a hit and soon hundreds of restaurants were lining up to buy it. After Kentucky Fried Chicken became an iconic brand, he sold the company to John Y. Brown Jr. for 2 million dollars. He was also paid $250,000 a year to remain as the face of the KFC brand. At the end of 60 years, Colonel Harnald Sanders passed through various life tests, and at the end of his 60 years of hard life, he spent the rest of his life living in abundance.
