Persona | The future of anime NFTs ?
Anime art has always had a well respected place in the web3 community. We’ve seen projects like @Azuki , @DigiDaigaku and ON1 Force thrive in this style. But the Anime project I’m most excited about is yet to be released.
Let’s see how Persona shapes their journey
Being distinctive in a saturated market:
With the success of Azuki, we’ve seen massive surges in Anime projects til the point where it’s hard not to have an Anime NFT in your wallet. The problem is that for projects, it’s getting hard to separate themselves from the crowd.
@Persona_Journey however has found a distinctive style that’s described by them as a retro anime art. I have to applaud the team for their art direction which to me is on the level of Azuki’s branding.
Onboarding members:
The way @Persona_Journey onboards new members and ensures their active involvement is through a gamified social platform. While it’s similar to how many projects onboard users (referrals, like/retweet, etc) it’s in the way they do it.
Their platform in itself is an experience where you meet @HanaPersona_, a resident of Timefall Valley. She’ll guide you through a series of questions to get you set up and makes regular announcements of outsiders invited to Timefall Valley.
The platform itself is a showcase of the strong brand Persona is establishing, and perfectly fits their narrative.
Storytelling:
Projects that want to create a strong brand focus on branded storytelling. And while there’s still little known about Persona, they have been teasing parts of their story accompanied by high quality art.
As was revealed later on, their art had a number of puzzles and hints hidden for members to discover and decode. For example, on Dec 15th, the first 100 who solved the riddle were granted access to the gated Persona Discord.
Through their storytelling they know to maintain a striking balance of being mysterious while handing out enough pieces of information to discover.
Gaming Studio:
While Persona boasts a unique art direction I’m wildly excited about, there’s more to it than just a PFP.
They’re actually a gaming studio in which the Persona avatar collection will the heart of their gaming ecosystem. With it, we can expect in-game utilities and advantages across their games. While still little is known about the project, @spikepersona claims they have a proven track record and a team of experts on this.
This indicates to me that Persona Journey is actually a bet on an experienced gaming studio, and that these avatars will be the center piece of it all.
Tokens, utilities and products:
@spikepersona has also teased an upcoming token launch which would support their deep ecosystem and which would fit the narrative of a web3 gaming studio. With it, we should have tangible utilities for Persona and actual, live products. I’d love to see how they would translate the Persona brand to IRL goodies, hopefully extending beyond merchandise. We did see Spike repping his Persona t-shirt at ApeFest Hongkong which looked absolutely sick!
Final words :
I came for the art, I fell for the brand, and I’ll stick around for their deep ecosystem. @Persona_Journey will take a lot of people by surprise and I believe they tick all the right boxes to become a household name in web3.
