Emma Noelle Roberts, professionally known as Emma Dumont, is an American actress, model, and dancer. Born in either 1994 or 1995, she has garnered recognition for her performances across various television series and films.
Dumont's career began with her portrayal of Melanie Segal in the ABC Family series "Bunheads," where she showcased her talents as both an actress and a dancer. Her role in the series helped establish her presence in the entertainment industry.
She continued to expand her acting repertoire with roles such as Emma Karn in the NBC series "Aquarius." In this crime drama, Dumont demonstrated her versatility by delving into more complex and dramatic characters.
However, Dumont's breakthrough role came with her portrayal of Lorna Dane, also known as Polaris, in the FOX series "The Gifted." As a mutant with magnetic powers, Dumont's performance captivated audiences and solidified her as a rising star in the realm of superhero television.

Emma Dumont was born in Seattle, Washington, in either 1994 or 1995. Her early education included attending Washington Middle School and later James A. Garfield High School. However, she decided to homeschool in order to focus on her modeling and acting pursuits. Additionally, Dumont attended the Orange County High School of the Arts, where she specialized in the Music and Theater Conservatory in Santa Ana, California.
Dumont's passion for ballet emerged at a young age, as she began her training at the age of 3. Over the years, she honed her skills at prestigious institutions such as the Pacific Northwest Ballet School, Cornish College of the Arts, and the Spectrum Dance Theatre School, particularly in their pre-professional program known as The Academy. Furthermore, Dumont dedicated her summers to furthering her ballet education, attending renowned schools like the American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Ballet School, and even the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow, Russia.
Her journey in performing arts began early, with Dumont participating in community theater productions from the age of 6. She graced the stages of various theaters, including the Seattle Public Theatre and Seattle Musical Theatre. Dumont's theatrical training also included immersive experiences, such as spending four summers at the esteemed 5th Avenue Theatre.
In addition to her artistic endeavors, Dumont demonstrated her prowess in the realm of science and technology. She was actively involved in robotics competitions, being a member of FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition teams in California. Dumont's contributions earned her recognition as a FIRST Dean's List Finalist at the Los Angeles Regional Competition. She even had the opportunity to speak at the prestigious FIRST World Championship during a VIP Dinner in April 2013.
Emma Dumont's acting career began with her first film role in "True Adolescents" in 2007, which was released in 2009. She appeared alongside Melissa Leo and Mark Duplass in this movie, which was filmed in her hometown of Seattle. Following this, she featured in the film "Dear Lemon Lima" in 2009, also shot in Seattle.
In January 2010, Dumont achieved success in the modeling world by winning the V magazine V A Model search contest. This victory led to her appearance in the March 2010 issue of V magazine and earned her a contract with Ford Models.
Her acting career continued to progress, and in 2011, she secured a lead role in Stephen Gaghan's NBC pilot "Metro," sharing the screen with Noah Emmerich and Jimmy Smits. Later that year, Dumont joined the cast of the ABC Family original series "Bunheads," starring alongside Sutton Foster and Kelly Bishop. She portrayed Melanie Segal, a student at the dance academy run by the lead character's mother-in-law, throughout 2012 and early 2013.
Additionally, in 2012, Dumont appeared in the independent film "Nobody Walks" alongside a talented cast including Dylan McDermott, John Krasinski, Jane Levy, Olivia Thirlby, and Rosemarie DeWitt.
Dumont's television career continued to flourish, as she filmed two television pilots for NBC in 2014: "Aquarius," which ran for two seasons, and "Salvation," which unfortunately was not picked up as a series. In March 2017, she was cast in Fox's pilot for an X-Men television series titled "The Gifted," which was greenlit for a series in May 2017 and premiered later that year in October.
One of her notable recent roles includes portraying the sister-in-law of J. Robert Oppenheimer in the biopic "Oppenheimer," directed by Christopher Nolan.
