In today's time, the number of computer and mobile users is increasing continuously. Due to which data storage is being given priority in all areas. All types of businesses, whether small or big, spend money. Apart from this, IT support and storage hub is also required. Due to which all types of businesses are not able to spend so much money on IT infrastructure and support. In place of this, cloud computing is a cheap and very good option.
Due to easy calculation, data can be kept safe in a more efficient way in cloud computing. Due to which big businesses are also getting attracted towards cloud computing. For cloud computing, the user needs very little hardware and software. For this, the user should only know how to use the cloud computing system and interface software. Which is as easy as running a web browser, the rest of the work is handled by the cloud network automatically. We all have used cloud computing at some time or the other, many companies are providing cloud computing services like Google, Facebook, Amazon etc.

While using e-mail service, our data is stored on the cloud server and not on the computer. The technology and infrastructure used in the cloud system is not visible to us because it is made using HTTP, XML, Ruby, PHP and other similar technologies. The user can connect the cloud system very easily from his computer, laptop or mobile.

Benefits of Cloud Computing

Due to low cost, many business organizations use cloud computing services. Apart from this, in cloud computing, the user uses the service as per his requirement and pays only for the services used. Cloud Computing has the following advantages

1. Lower cost of IT infrastructure

2. Less computer hardware and software required

3. Better performance

4. Fewer maintenance issues and minimal maintenance costs

5. Ease of software updates

6. Compatibility between cloud computing systems and computer operating systems

7. Backup and recovery

8. Increased data security

Types of Clouds

There are four models of cloud system and the user can subscribe to any model as per the requirement of his business -

Private Cloud

  • In this, cloud computing resources are used for a particular business organization. This system is mainly useful for intra-business in which computer resources are controlled and operated within the same organization.

Community Cloud

  • In this, computing resources are provided to communities and organizations.

Public Cloud

  • Public cloud is generally used in B2C (Business to Consumer) businesses. In this, computer resources are operated and controlled by government, academia and business institutions.

Hybrid Cloud

  • Hybrid Cloud: This type of cloud is used in both B2C and B2B businesses. This type of cloud system is called "hybrid cloud" in which computing resources are connected to different clouds.

Cloud Computing Services

Cloud mainly offers three types of services -

Software as a Service (SaaS)

Platform as a Service (PaaS)

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)

Different types of businesses use these services as per their requirement.

SaaS (Software as a Service)

SaaS or software as a service is a "software service distribution" model of cloud computing in which applications are hosted by a service provider or vendor and made available to customers over the Internet. SaaS is becoming a very popular service delivery model in today's times, which supports Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) or Web Services. This service is made available to customers all over the world through the Internet.

If we talk about the old method of data storage in which the user had to buy software to store data and then install it on his computer, instead of this, in this new model, the user can easily avail this service by subscribing to the cloud service on a monthly basis. Apart from this, users can easily use SaaS service on almost all internet enabled devices.

PaaS (Platform as a Service)

It provides a platform to the developers where they can build the application. This service can be hosted in the cloud and the user can access it from anywhere through the internet.

For example, the way the teacher provides paint colors, paper, brush etc. to the children for drawing and the students just have to paint, similarly in PaaS, the user is provided a platform with various tools where he can develop the application. Here new features are updated from time to time for the users.

It provides a platform that supports application development, hence it is very beneficial for software developers, web developers and other businesses. Apart from this, it also provides the facility of software support and management services, storage, networking, collaborating, hosting deploying, and maintenance.

IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service)

Apart from PaaS, IaaS is a fundamental service of cloud computing. In this, the user can access the computing resources virtually over the internet. It provides various types of computing services and infrastructure such as virtual server space, network connections, bandwidth, load balancers and IP addresses etc. In this, the network is usually divided into free data centers and the hardware resources also work on many servers.

IaaS is a complete package of computing. It is quite suitable for small scale businesses as the cost of IT infrastructure is relatively low. By using IaaS computing, any business can save a lot of costs such as maintenance, buying new components such as hard-drives, network connections, external storage devices etc.
