Homemade Pad Thai Recipe;


Ingredients:

  • 8 oz (about 225g) flat rice noodles
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup tofu, cubed
  • 1/2 cup shrimp, peeled and deveined (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup bean sprouts
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • 1/4 cup chopped roasted peanuts
  • Lime wedges for serving


For the Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons tamarind paste
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)


Instructions:

  • Prepare the Rice Noodles:
    • Cook the rice noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.


  • Make the Sauce:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together the tamarind paste, fish sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and chili powder until well combined. Adjust the sweetness and spiciness to your liking.


  • Stir-Fry Tofu and Shrimp:
    • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add tofu and shrimp (if using) and stir-fry until tofu is golden and shrimp is cooked. Remove from the pan and set aside.


  • Cook the Eggs:
    • In the same pan, add another tablespoon of oil.
    • Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
    • Push the garlic to one side of the pan and pour the beaten eggs into the other side. Scramble the eggs until cooked through.


  • Combine Ingredients:
    • Add the cooked rice noodles to the pan, followed by the prepared sauce.
    • Toss everything together, ensuring the noodles are well-coated with the sauce.


  • Finish the Dish:
    • Add the cooked tofu, shrimp, bean sprouts, and sliced green onions to the noodles. Toss until all ingredients are evenly distributed and heated through.


  • Serve:
    • Divide the Pad Thai among serving plates.
    • Garnish with chopped peanuts and serve with lime wedges on the side.
