However, it was her standout performance in the miniseries Normal People (2020) that truly brought her to the forefront of the industry. Her portrayal in this series earned her widespread acclaim and nominations for prestigious awards such as the British Academy Television Award and the Golden Globe Award.

In 2022, Edgar-Jones continued to showcase her versatility by starring in a variety of projects. She appeared in the comedy-thriller film Fresh, the mystery film Where the Crawdads Sing, and the crime miniseries Under the Banner of Heaven (2022). Her performance in the latter earned her a second Golden Globe nomination, further solidifying her reputation as a talented and sought-after actress.

Daisy Edgar-Jones was born on May 24, 1998, in Islington, London. Her mother, Wendy, is from Northern Ireland and has a background in film editing, while her father, Philip, is Scottish and holds prominent positions in the entertainment industry, serving as the director of Sky Arts and head of entertainment at Sky.

Growing up in Muswell Hill, London, Edgar-Jones discovered her passion for acting at a young age and participated in a school play in Year 2. She attended The Mount School for Girls and later studied at Woodhouse College. Additionally, she was admitted to the National Youth Theatre to further develop her acting skills. Edgar-Jones pursued her education further with the Open University.

After her appearance in the 2016 Outnumbered Christmas Special on BBC One, Daisy Edgar-Jones, at the age of 17, landed the role of Olivia Marsden in ITV's comedy-drama Cold Feet, where she starred alongside James Nesbitt. Following this, in 2018, she portrayed Jessica Thompson in Silent Witness and appeared in the independent coming-of-age film Pond Life directed by Bill Buckhurst. Additionally, she participated in the National Youth Theatre production of The Reluctant Fundamentalist.

In 2019, Edgar-Jones had a recurring role as Delia Rawson in the BBC and HBO series Gentleman Jack. She also portrayed Emily Gresham in the first two seasons of War of the Worlds, acting opposite Gabriel Byrne and Elizabeth McGovern. However, her breakthrough role came when she was cast as Marianne, alongside Paul Mescal as Connell, in the Hulu and BBC Three series Normal People, based on the novel by Sally Rooney.

Daisy Edgar-Jones continued to make waves in the entertainment industry after her role in "Normal People." In February 2020, she starred in the revival of "Albion" at the Almeida Theatre, a performance that was recorded and later broadcast by the BBC in August of the same year. Her influence and impact were further recognized when she was included in British Vogue's 2020 list of influential women.

Her first major project following "Normal People" was the thriller dark-comedy film "Fresh," which premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival.
In 2022, Edgar-Jones took on the starring role in the film adaptation of "Where the Crawdads Sing" by Delia Owens and also starred in Dustin Lance Black's true crime miniseries "Under the Banner of Heaven," based on Jon Krakauer's book of the same name. Her performance earned her a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries, or Television Film.
Additionally, Edgar-Jones was cast in the lead role for the upcoming film "Twisters," a sequel to the 1996 film "Twister," set to be released in July 2024.
