My mental health story began long before I understood what it meant. Anxiety and depression ran in my family, from my grandparents to my parents and then to me. Growing up, my guardians struggled with their own mental health issues but refused to acknowledge them. This made me feel confused and lost. To cope, I shut down my emotions, which made some people think I was strong, but others called me cold.
But burying your feelings doesn't make them go away. They build up inside until they can't be ignored. For me, it started with headaches, then stomach problems, and eventually, I was in constant pain and felt exhausted all the time. I had to leave college because of it.
Doctors diagnosed me with fibromyalgia, but I knew it was also because I had been ignoring my emotions for so long.

I realized I needed to take care of my mental health. I started going to therapy and taking medication. I learned better ways to express my feelings. Now, I'm studying to become a therapist to help others like me.

As an intern at a mental health clinic, I'm learning to listen and show empathy, even though I still struggle with my own depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. It's tough sometimes, but I know how important it is to take care of myself so I can help others.
Being a therapist isn't easy. It's not about getting praise or money. It's about making a difference in people's lives, even if it takes a lot of work and patience.
Despite my own challenges, I'm hopeful that things will get better. I still see a therapist and deal with my own issues, but I'm getting stronger every day. Helping others and taking care of myself are what keep me going.
In the symphony of life's trials and triumphs, I have found my melody—a melody of resilience, compassion, and unwavering determination. As I journey forward, I embrace the beauty of each note, knowing that within the harmonies of struggle lies the promise of healing. And with each chord struck, I am reminded that my story is not defined by the battles I've faced, but by the melody of hope that guides me towards a brighter tomorrow.
