Avalanche has been making headlines for years now due to its innovative approach to building a scalable and versatile blockchain infrastructure. Avalanche (subnet) is the main competitor of Cosmos (zones) and Polkadot (parachains). LayerZero is also building a similar infrastructure based on cross chain and the development of applications that communicate with each other.
At the heart of Avalanche's infrastructure lies a modular design, offering high processing capacity and lightning-fast transaction finality (tps). One of the key features of Avalanche is its ability to support the creation of sovereign chains, known as subnets, each designed to meet specific use case requirements. These subnets serve as independent blockchain networks within the broader Avalanche ecosystem, giving developers the flexibility to customize parameters such as gas fees, governance models, security mechanisms, and privacy features. First of all, however, let's see how the Avalanche mainnet is structured:
1) P-Chain (Primary Chain): it is the main chain of Avalanche and is responsible for managing the validators, the overall security of the network and the transactions between the different subnets. It is the main chain on which all other chains are based
2) C-Chain (Contract Chain): is a subnet dedicated to the management of smart contracts and decentralized applications on Avalanche. It is designed to provide a secure and scalable environment for smart contract execution. It is a modified version to support EVM world
3) X-Chain (Exchange Chain): is a subnet optimized to ensure near-instantaneous transaction finality and high throughput to facilitate rapid exchange of digital assets
Subnets are essentially virtual blockchains that scale horizontally, without burdening the C-Chain. Additionally, Avalanche introduced the HyperSDK, which allows developers to launch their own subnets for innovation and ecosystem expansion.
Another notable achievement is the development of a cross-chain messaging protocol, which facilitates interoperability between different subnets. This breakthrough paves the way for seamless communication and data transfer between disparate blockchain networks, unlocking new possibilities for decentralized finance (DeFi), gaming and other industries. Let's see the main subnets.

SUBNET
In the world of gaming, Avalanche has made a name for itself by launching gaming subnets, addressing the need for speed and high throughput.
Blitz hosts e-sports tournaments, in-game payments and NFT collections ($Avax will be used as token). Mirai Labs is behind the game on Polygon Pegaxy, or horse racing.
Prominent projects such as MeritCircle (via the Beam subnet), DeFi Kingdoms (with 7 validators, Jewel as a gas fee and over 2000 active players per day) and Shrapnel (shooter of the year with 10 validators) have exploited Avalanche's infrastructure to create engaging gaming experiences with thousands of daily active users and consistent transaction volumes.
Other games worth mentioning are: DOMI, MetaDOS, Pulsar, The Fableborne Chronicle, Paradise Tycoon, Bloodloop, Providence and OffTheGrid.
Beyond gaming, Avalanche subnets have applications in various fields, including decentralized finance (DeFi) and real-world asset (RWA) tokenization. Projects like Meld Finance and Dexalot are using Avalanche subnets to build non-custodial money market platforms (fiat currency integration) and decentralized exchange-like exchanges with a lightning-fast transaction purpose, respectively. Hubble Exchange is also expected to launch its own subnet on Avalanche. Additionally, the Evergreen subnet addresses the needs of financial institutions and enterprises seeking to tokenize real-world assets within a highly scalable environment. Institutions like Intain are leveraging subnets to launch on-chain marketplaces for asset-backed securities, unlocking new pathways for tokenization and asset trading. Nodekit is building a shared blockchain L1 sequencer called SEQ on a subnet to decentralize transactional sequencing for L2 rollups.
In conclusion, Avalanche's innovative blockchain infrastructure, featuring high throughput and modular design, is revolutionizing the way decentralized applications are built and deployed with cross-chain interoperability.
