Katee Sackhoff is an American actress known for her iconic roles in various television series and films. She gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Lieutenant Kara "Starbuck" Thrace in the Sci Fi Channel's critically acclaimed series Battlestar Galactica (2004–2009), for which she received four Saturn Award nominations and won the award for Best Supporting Actress on Television in 2005.


In addition to Battlestar Galactica, Sackhoff has appeared in several other notable television series. She starred in the short-lived shows The Fearing Mind (2000–2001) and The Education of Max Bickford (2001–2002). Sackhoff also had recurring roles in Bionic Woman (2007), Nip/Tuck (2009), and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2010–2011). She notably portrayed Dana Walsh in the eighth season of 24 (2010) and appeared as Blacksmith in The Flash.
Sackhoff's filmography includes lead roles in various movies spanning different genres. She starred in Halloween: Resurrection (2002), White Noise: The Light (2007), Batman: Year One (2011), The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia (2013), Sexy Evil Genius (2013), Riddick (2013), Oculus (2013), and Don't Knock Twice (2016).


Beyond her live-action performances, Sackhoff has also made significant contributions to animated series and voice acting. She provided the voice for Bo-Katan Kryze in Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2012–2020) and Star Wars Rebels (2017), as well as in the live-action series The Mandalorian (2020-present). Additionally, she voices the character Bitch Pudding on the long-running animated series Robot Chicken (2005–present).

Katee Sackhoff, born in Portland, Oregon, and raised in St. Helens, Oregon, is the daughter of Mary, who worked as an ESL program coordinator, and Dennis, a land developer. She attended Sunset High School in Beaverton, graduating in 1998.
Sackhoff initially had aspirations of pursuing a career in swimming and was actively involved in the sport from a young age. However, her plans were altered when she sustained a knee injury to her right knee during high school. Following the injury, she turned her focus towards yoga, a practice she continues to engage in, and developed an interest in acting. This shift ultimately led her to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.


Katee Sackhoff was born in Portland, Oregon, and spent her childhood in St. Helens, Oregon. Her mother, Mary, worked as an English-as-second-language (ESL) program coordinator, while her father, Dennis, was a land developer. She graduated from Sunset High School in Beaverton in 1998.
Sackhoff began swimming at a young age and had aspirations of pursuing a career in the sport until a knee injury during high school altered her plans. This setback prompted her to explore other interests, including acting. At the age of 17, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career after being inspired by her first role in the Lifetime film Fifteen and Pregnant.


Her breakout role came with her portrayal of Kara "Starbuck" Thrace in the miniseries and subsequent TV series Battlestar Galactica. Her performance earned her critical acclaim, including a Saturn Award for Best Actress on Television in 2006. Sackhoff's portrayal of Starbuck was praised for its complexity and depth, with producers citing her magnetism and ability to convey vulnerability and strength simultaneously.
Sackhoff has cited Linda Hamilton's portrayal of Sarah Connor in Terminator 2: Judgment Day as an inspiration for her performance. Toward the end of filming Battlestar Galactica, Sackhoff was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and underwent surgery to remove her thyroid. She subsequently went into remission without requiring radiation treatments.

In addition to her iconic role as Kara "Starbuck" Thrace in Battlestar Galactica, Sackhoff has appeared in numerous TV series, including Bionic Woman, Nip/Tuck, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, The Flash, and Longmire, where she played Sheriff's Deputy Vic Moretti.
Her film credits include roles in The Last Sentinel, White Noise: The Light, Halloween: Resurrection, Riddick, and The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia, among others.
Sackhoff has also lent her voice to several projects, including video games like Halo 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, and the Star Wars animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, where she voiced the character Bo-Katan Kryze.
Beyond acting, Sackhoff has ventured into producing, executive-producing the TV series Rain through her production company Fly Free Productions.
In 2023, Sackhoff expanded her creative endeavors by launching her podcast, Blah Blah Blah with Katee Sackhoff.


Katee Sackhoff is not only known for her acting career but also for her philanthropic efforts and personal life.
Together with her Battlestar Galactica co-star Tricia Helfer, Sackhoff co-founded Acting Outlaws, a motorcycle-riding charity. Through this organization, they have raised awareness and funds for various causes, including the Gulf Restoration Network, the Humane Society, and the Red Cross amfAR.
Sackhoff also maintains a YouTube channel where she shares insights into her training regimen and dietary approaches, particularly in preparation for events like the Hawaii Spartan Sprint Obstacle Race.
In her personal life, Sackhoff was in a relationship with New Zealand actor Karl Urban from 2014 to 2018. In 2018, she met actor Robin Gadsby in Vancouver, British Columbia, and the couple got married in early October 2021. They now have a daughter together.
