Play-to-earn games (P2E) do what most traditional video games don’t — reward players for their time and effort spent in the game. After all, the players do create game content simply by participating and providing interactions for other players.
And while many games have switched to the phrase ‘play and earn’, or the term ‘web3’, the idea remains the same — the ability to own game items as NFTs, and the ability to earn while playing in some manner. Sometimes those two things are the same. Sometimes not.

Alien Worlds is one of the elder generation of WAX games. They first announced their game in July of 2020 and followed up with several NFT sales in October, and their first and only land sale in December of that same year. Mining on land plots opened up not long after the land sale, and the team has slowly and steadily improved their website and added additional features since then, including a gameified staking system on the Binance Chain. Alien Worlds is a member of the Blockchain Games Alliance.
The basic mining game is not especially exciting. But the introduction of player-run, Planetary DAOs has added a new layer to their ecosystem that will continue to grow and expand. This system provides empowerment and economic incentive for the DAOs to build and improve upon the Alien Worlds experience through marketing programs, third party app development, and more!
